Overview:

The Product Manager is responsible for product management through implementing the strategy, roadmap, and feature definition for a product or product line, bridging technology and business to build new services and communicate value propositions, capabilities and releases.

The Product Manager determines feasibility for functional capabilities to meet customer expectations and needs, working with development teams to size high-level functionality and with business functions to determine business development value, risk reduction, and/or revenue opportunity associated with new features for use in feature prioritization. In some instances, the Product Manager may play the Product Owner role on the Scrum Team.

The Product Manager also contributes to the product vision, by working with stakeholders and subject matter experts within and outside of the company to clearly understand the research and psychometric subject matter necessary for a successful product, in addition to conducting market research through on-going visits to customers and non-customers.

Responsibilities:

Implement the product strategy for assigned product:

  • Maintains product roadmap, including a rolling product feature roadmap for 3-4 quarters, along with an 18-24 month vision.
  • Responsible for managing the product line lifecycle from strategic planning to tactical activities.
  • Creates user and buyer personas and/or jobs to be done analyses for use by user experience and user interface designers, product owner and business analyst, development, and marketing teams.
  • Establishes business cases for new product development efforts; justifies feature development with light-weight business evaluation of business development value, risk reduction, revenue opportunity, and high level size of effort using metrics such as weighted shortest job first.
  • Guide the Scrum team as they build the tactical feature roadmap and detailed requirements to meet the product strategy.
  • Gather customer feedback from client services, usage data as analyzed by user experience designers, and usability studies to determine and evaluate enhancement opportunities.
  • Contribute to proposal efforts for which the assigned product is part of the solution.
  • Deliver product updates to leadership and to development teams based on realized revenue, status reports from technology project managers leading scrum product development teams, and other data points.
  • Attend and present at relevant industry conferences, ideally in joint sessions with customers

Contribute to the overall product strategy:

  • Prepare for and participate in Program Increment Planning, working with other product managers to prioritize product development work to deliver maximum benefit to the business.
  • Work with Architecture and other Product Managers to develop plans for integration priorities among products to provide a seamless customer experience within Pacific Metrics’ ecosystem of products.
  • Evaluate potential partners and conduct build/buy analyses.
  • Becomes expert in the product field, studying market needs, competitive products and psychometric requirements.
  • Engages with stakeholders to determine feasibility for functional capabilities to meet customer expectations and needs.

Contribute to company innovations in technology:

  • Participates in brainstorming sessions and rapid prototyping efforts.
  • Supports technical research activities under leadership of senior staff.

Qualifications:

  • Masters’ degree required in Psychology, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Business, or related field. Advanced degree or equivalent experience preferred.

Prior Industry/Role/Experience:

  • 5+ years in a role related to education technology, preferably involving online educational assessment, test delivery or automated scoring.
  • 3+ years’ experience working in a software product management, product development, business analysis, or related function, with at least 1 year in product management.
  • 3+ years’ experience in software development or web-based applications.
  • 3+ years’ experience working in a Scrum/Agile environment.
  • Pragmatic Marketing or 280 group Product Management certification preferred.
  • Certified Scrum Product Owner or Certified Scaled Agilest, highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of W3C Web Accessibility standards preferred.
  • Assessment industry experience, highly desirable.
  • Cloud-based experience, highly desirable.
  • Experience with business intelligence or predictive analytic software, highly desirable.
  • May require up to 25% travel.
