Private Educator & Homeschool Teacher for Nature Based Learning Environment

Job Description
We are a fun, flexible, kind, open-minded and driven family of five looking to provide our children (ages 6, 8 and 10) with a unique educational journey by launching a school that will be part homeschool (teaching our three young children together), part activity group (a few hours a week we will invite other local children to learn and play together) and part traveling to our flower farm and ranch on the coast in Northern Santa Barbara County. Our home base classroom is a newly renovated large studio near our organic vegetable garden in Portola Valley, California. We also travel to Gaviota, California for approximately 4 separate weeks of the school year where our homeschool classroom will transition to our newly renovated barn space set on a working farm on the coast.
Your role will be to:
1) homeschool our rising 4th grade son, rising 2nd grade son and rising Kindergarten daughter in core subjects like math, reading, writing, science, social studies, and art,
2) help facilitate social activity groups which will meet for a few hours per week with a group of 6-10 year olds (some/most of this time will ideally be spent in nature). Please note: you are not responsible for the academic education of these children occasionally coming for peer-to-peer learning time
3) travel occasionally to our flower farm for on-site learning approximately 4 weeks out of the year.
We are looking for a private educator who is excited about educating young children and open minded to help our family create our dream school environment. You should be creative, intelligent, fun, passionate, flexible, well-organized and positive.

Start date
This role will start full-time in mid August 2022 but we are looking to find our dream candidate now so we can involve him/her in the planning for our ‘school’. This role would require a few paid hours a month between now and August 2022, and then a full-time (M-F 8-3pm) from mid August - June 2023.
