Let’s face it. Everyone thinks they are an expert in online learning these days. They made it through the worst of the epidemic with video conferencing, putting pdfs on a basic out of the box website, embedding a survey tool, and using a different platform for chatting.

However, the challenge is often getting there: Shepherding clients through a collaborative process that discovers and hones the vision, and defines and prioritizes features coupled with the technological know-how to translate that into an actionable roadmap for a team of engineers.

That’s where you come in! As a Principal Product Manager, you’ll be at the helm of digital learning innovation; Leading some of the world’s most impactful non-profits and most recognized colleges and universities in defining and executing the next phase, the future, of digital education. You’ll work across our diverse team and disciplines to ensure we design products that meet, and transcend, each of our client’s unique needs. You’ll be in charge of the soup to nuts; leading the product discovery phase, coordinating the UX journey, and collaborating on the software development.

There’s also more. Reporting to and working closely with our Director of Product Management and Design, you'll continue to push our own internal processes and standards; continuing to push and redefine the boundaries of digital learning for organizations and learners for years to come.

What you’ll do:

Product Management

  • Design and implement research and validation studies to identify user/learner needs and behavior through analytics, interviews, surveys, and focus groups
  • Perform benchmark and competitive analysis to understand the competitive landscape and best practices for client solutions
  • Envision new workshops and facilitate client meetings to discover user, educational, and business needs
  • Anticipate client and project needs and proactively mitigate risks. Navigate and advise clients in the moment on feasibility and tradeoffs based on technological knowledge
  • As part of a project team, work with Learning Experience Designers, UI and UX Designers, and tech leads to research and define solutions for our clients
  • Working with Project Managers, create and oversee project plans for the product work stream of projects including UX and UI work
  • Create and manage the product roadmap, detailed feature inventories, and appropriate diagrams to describe the product/solution
  • Working with the tech team, determine the best technical implementation to meet clients’ educational and strategic needs
  • Research, stay current with, and apply educational technology innovations and trends

Software Development Support

  • Serve as the product owner on agile teams by representing the client’s needs and managing the product backlog.
  • Work with tech leads, developers, and QA engineers to understand and make tradeoffs for features regarding schedule and budget
  • Work with tech during development to iterate on product features
  • Work with clients and internal stakeholders to devise roadmaps, sprint plans, and product releases

Who you are:

  • Software Product Strategist: 10+ years software project or product management and development experience discovering, designing, and prioritizing product features.
  • Ability to envision and execute a product vision from a blank slate
  • Able to anticipate client and project needs and prevent potential issues in the design and development process.
  • Research and Validator: Ability to use data to make decisions and experience designing and running usability studies and feedback/interview sessions.
  • Systems Communicator: Able to create complex models that convey product components and relationships to align understanding across external client stakeholders and internal team members.
  • Proven track record working collaboratively with software development teams to build products.
  • Enough knowledge of front end, back end, and cloud technology to determine feasibility and difficulty of client requests and to discuss tradeoffs with development teams.
  • Adaptive Leader: Experience leading diverse remote teams of technical, non technical, and creative members in a fast-paced environment with competing priorities to achieve intended results.
  • Guide and Storyteller: Able to create and deliver new and novel facilitation activities and presentations to address client needs. Great verbal and written communication skills.
  • Curious: Embraces an “always be learning” attitude and work culture.
  • Passionate: Excited about the intersection of technology and learning.
