Principal - Curtner Elementary

Serves as educational and community leader, and chief administrator of an assigned elementary school, with coordination and administering of all school objectives, instructional programs, teacher and staff evaluations, student activities, school plant operations, school's attendance area, and other responsibilities as designed by District Superintendent or designee.


Interprets and implements district approved program according to school needs.E

Identifies, provides, assigns and coordinates in-service and training opportunities for staff.E

Plans effective use of teaching materials, supplies and equipment.E

Coordinates categorically funded programs.E

Assigns teachers to classes on basis of qualifications and student needs.E

Assigns duties and responsibilities to (assistant-principal) and other support staff.E

Coordinates guidance and discipline programs and confers with parents at school.E

Recommends school budget, control expenditures and coordinates with Executive Director-Business Services.E

Coordinates with operations/maintenance of school plant and facilities in cooperation with district classified management staff.E

Assigns duties and responsibilities to classified staff.E

Develops and communicates school policies and procedures in accordance with district guidelines.E

Holds regular staff meetings of certificated and classified staff.E

Determines teaching procedures and evaluates teachers following district and state guidelines.E

Interprets school and district goals to parents and community leaders.E

Plans and administers an open house at school periodically.E

Prepares written communications to parents and community and arranges/participates in speaking engagements.E

Performs related duties as assigned.

Proper California Administrative Credential.

Five (5) years teaching experience.

Master's Degree.

Demonstrated leadership and organizational abilities.

Comprehensive organization, activities, goals and objectives of a district elementary school.

School law administration and applicable sections of the State Education Code and other applicable laws.

State and local curriculum requirements.

Board and district policies, procedures and regulations.

Employee-Employer relations law and employee contracts.

State plant facility requirements.

Budget preparation and control.

Principles and practices of administration, supervision and training.

Interpersonal skills using tact, patience and courtesy.

Oral and written communication skills.

Public speaking techniques.


Plan, organize and direct the operations, plant and personnel of an elementary school with 300-600 students.

Organize, direct, evaluate and supervise teachers, and classified staff and assigned instructional assistants.

Plan and direct the budget and business operations of the school.

Maintain responsible and attentive relationship with students, staff and parents.

Maintain effective liaison with community and civic organizations.

Plan and organize work.

Analyze situations accurately and adopt an effective course of action.

Read, interpret, apply and explain rules, regulations, policies and procedures.

Communicate effectively both orally and in writing.

Prepare and deliver oral presentations.
