Personalized Learning Math Teacher

KIPP Houston - Houston, TX - Full time

The Personalized Learning Analyst will design the digital systems that will be the backbone of the school’s new personalized learning math program, an all-grade, 90-minute math period where students engage and progress through each lesson based on their readiness. The goals of the program are to:

  • Create a structure that institutionalizes differentiation into each lesson so teachers don't have to do so on their own
  • Leverage the complementary skills of a team of math teachers rather than rely on each math teacher to perform every instructional-related task independently
  • Create a more dynamic experience for students

The Personalized Learning Analyst will:

  • Build a digital progress monitoring tool to track student performance on digital and paper-based assessments
  • Select, administer, and collect diagnostic assessments and assign students to their instructional rounds
  • Curate and / or create supporting digital content for each component (remediation, direct instruction, independent practice, projects-based activities) of each lesson (5th grade - Alg. 1 math) each day, in collaboration with the fellow math instructors
  • Develop or choose a landing page or LMS, which all students will use to access their daily digital content and paper assignments in one place
  • Coach teachers to prepare for smooth adoption of new tools and solutions
  • Manage and store content for future use at KIPP Academy Middle School and future sites
  • Teach or support instruction during Rounds, as necessary
  • Partner with KIPP Houston’s Innovation Team to report learnings and inform decisions for whether and how to scale this math program to other middle schools

  • Minimum of two years of math teaching experience in K-12, preferably 5th-8th grade
  • Demonstrated expertise in using K-12 digital learning programs to create personalized learning classroom experiences
  • Well versed in blended learning and education technology market and key solutions / players

KIPP Houston

KIPP Academy Middle School, the original KIPP middle school in Houston, is redesigning its school structure – the aims for students, students’ experience, use of time, curriculum, and the roles of educators and families – to prepare all students for college and career success. The KIPP Academy Middle School project will also serve as research & development for redesigning middle school campuses across KIPP Houston, and we are working in partnership with national education organizations such as Transcend and New Schools Venture Fund as we redesign our programs. Our new school model will launch in August 2017.
