Payroll and Benefits Specialist

The Payroll and Benefits Specialist will provide support as a member of the HR Team in administration of all compensation and benefits programs for Amplify as well as assisting with the development and delivery of scalable total rewards initiatives. Assists with maintaining the company’s compensation and benefits programs to ensure alignment with Amplify’s policies and guidelines and compliant with legal regulations.

Provides professional consultation and guidance to managers and HR Business Partners regarding compensation guidelines and industry best practices, and supports benefits policy development within the wider compensation and benefits function. Resolving questions and making recommendations on outstanding and emerging challenges related to salary and benefits programs.

Responsibilities of the Payroll and Benefits Specialist:

Payroll related activities include:

  • Perform daily payroll department operations
  • Reconcile payroll prior to processing and validate confirmed reports
  • Process accurate and timely year-end reporting when necessary (W-2, W-2c, etc.)
  • Maintain and manage Workday timesheets portal
  • Review hours submitted through Workday Timesheets
  • Prepare reports related to payroll and benefits
  • Reconciliation of payroll, 401(k) and other benefits
  • Assist with 401(k) audits

Compensation related activities include:

  • Provide support and participate in annual compensation planning and administration i.e. salary range and/or broad-band structure development, year-end compensation management, merit increases, bonus and other short term incentive processing
  • Research, design, conduct data analysis and analyze compensation to ensure internal equity and external competitiveness
  • Participate in relevant external benchmark surveys to ensure competitive pay practices

Benefits related activities include:

  • Supports the administration of health and welfare plans; including plan design, plan interpretation, leave of absence, employee enrollment and communications
  • Assists with strategic level plan design, contracts, rate renewals, plan provisions and coverage
  • Serves as a benefits advocate for employees and employer, as needed

Basic Qualifications of the Payroll and Benefits Specialist:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, HR or related field
  • Minimum 5+ years’ experience in compensation and 5+ years of benefits & HRIS experience

Preferred Qualifications of the Payroll and Benefits Specialist:

  • Knowledge of compensation and HRIS theory and concepts with emphasis on design, application, process and tools
  • Analytical and organizational skills with extensive experience providing compensation analysis, advice and direction in support of the team
  • Knowledge in and experience with employee benefit plan design, practice and strategies for health and welfare and Defined Contribution retirement plans
  • Demonstrated knowledge of legal and regulatory requirements ie; FLSA, 409A, Wage Theft, etc.
