Partner Engagement Manager

AVID Center - remote - Full time

Position Description: The Partner Engagement Manager (PEM) is responsible for selling the AVID College Readiness System via a consultative and collaborative approach to large K–12 school districts, and for gaining significant school district penetration. The PEM develops strong relationships with senior-level district leadership (e.g. Superintendents) and other key stakeholders involved in the decision-making process (e.g. Principals, School Boards, etc.). The PEM systematically manages the entire sales process from initial targeting and lead follow-up through contract completion. Additionally, the PEM reports on progress for achieving goals through a Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system.

AVID currently has a job opening as a Partner Engagement Manager in our California Division, responsible for our Southern California region.

Essential Duties:

  • Meet or exceed annual goals for site growth to impact more students and educators
  • Develop a target list of prospective high-potential, large school districts and existing districts that can benefit from the AVID College Readiness System in conjunction with Division teams and the Sr. Director of Partner Engagement
  • Forge relationships with school districts
  • Maintain knowledge of educational research and trends, as well as AVID’s alignment with the strategic plans of school district partners
  • Partner with districts by utilizing a consultative sales approach to determine district needs, and develop a multi-year district plan for site growth
  • Manage the process from targeting and lead follow-up to completion of contract. Systematically move prospective partners through the sales process
  • Utilize Salesforce for to manage the sales process
  • Generate leads continuously throughout the year by participating in a variety of conferences and other opportunities to meet new prospects and foster relationships
  • Serve as a passionate spokesperson for AVID’s mission, vision, products, and value
  • Identify problems and facilitate collaborative team conversations about possible solutions involving quality implementation and evaluation of AVID program work
  • Provide information sessions upon request to increase public awareness of the benefits and unique attributes of AVID
  • Communicate and collaborate with AVID Center headquarters and cross-divisionally to achieve organizational goals
  • Perform other similar duties as assigned
  • Travel required (estimated at 50% or more)

Minimum Qualifications:

The Partner Engagement Manager must provide evidence of or demonstrate the following:

  • Track record of success in developing relationships and influencing senior district staff (e.g. District Superintendent, Chief Academic Officers, etc.) as well as other stakeholders involved in district decision-making (e.g. School Board members, etc.)
  • Consistently meets sales goals
  • Ability to provide critical analysis and understanding of school districts’ needs; develops and grows school district contracts
  • Interpersonal skills necessary to establish, maintain, and grow good working relationships with district/school staff, with an emphasis on tact, diplomacy, flexibility, collaboration, professionalism, and discretion
  • Strong consultative sales skills including prospecting, qualifying, needs analysis, proposal development, negotiation, and closing
  • Ability to build strong relationships with various types of people and to motivate superiors, peers, and others to meet ambitious goals
  • Ability to work effectively in a diverse, complex system
  • Demonstrate and promote a growth mindset when working with others
  • Operate with purpose, urgency, and accuracy in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
  • Ability to identify problems and facilitate collaborative team conversations about possible solutions

  • Knowledge and experience implementing powerful programs in schools and school systems, like AVID or other similar equity-driven achievement-gap-closing programs for all students
  • Ability to communicate and speak effectively when interacting with others or presenting information; experience presenting to small and large groups
  • Strong written communication skills and the ability to compose correspondence and reports
  • Self-motivated with proven success working in a collaborative environment; ability to work remotely, independently, and with minimal oversight while maintaining high levels of customer satisfaction
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Ability to achieve high levels of customer satisfaction (both internal and external) through attention to responsive, quality service
  • Effective use of technology tools for communications, planning, management, and presentations, including a working knowledge of MS Office Suite, Concur, WebEx, Skype, Google Docs, and SmartSheet
  • Experience in utilizing a Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system
  • Strong character traits expected of a leader that include, but are not limited to: respectful treatment of colleagues and others, integrity, honesty, and a positive work ethic

Experience and Education*:

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing or related field
  • Minimum of 3 years of successful experience in education district sales

Preferred:

  • Master’s degree or higher
  • Experience in serving non-profit organizations or educational institutions, which prepare students for success in high school, college, and a career, especially students traditionally underrepresented in higher education

*Allowable Substitutions:Any combination of experience and training that provides the incumbent/applicant with the knowledge, skills, and ability required to perform the work, as determined by the AVID Center.Qualifying work experience, as identified by the Senior Director, Human Resources, and Organizational Development, may substitute for the education requirement.
