Job Title: Part-Time or Full-Time K-12 Homeschool Teacher (English & Math)

We are a small, private homeschool focused on providing high-quality education to our students, and we are currently seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable part-time K-12 teacher to join our team. This position has the potential to transition to a full-time role based on performance and evolving needs.

Responsibilities:

1. Teach English and Mathematics to a 9-year-old student on an accelerated learning path, currently studying at grade levels 2+ years ahead of her age.
   1. We will consider a candidate with an outstanding Mathematics background that prefers not to teach English.
2. Implement and follow the provided curriculum while making adjustments as necessary to meet the student's individual learning needs.
3. Inspire and motivate the student.
4. Monitor the student's progress, assess their performance, and provide regular feedback.
5. Collaborate with parents to ensure the student's academic growth and success.
6. Ensure that the student has understood and completed the assignments, administer and submit assignments as needed.
7. Maintain a safe, respectful, and enjoyable learning environment.

Qualifications:

1. A bachelor's degree in education or a related field. A master’s degree or teaching credential is preferred.
2. Prior experience in teaching K-12, especially in English and Mathematics with an emphasis on Mathematics.
3. Strong understanding of child development and learning strategies for children of different ages.
4. Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
5. Passionate about teaching and committed to student success.
6. Ability to adapt teaching methods to suit the student's individual learning style.
7. Proficient in using digital tools for education, including online learning platforms.

Working Hours:

This is a part-time position (minimum 8hrs/wk), with the potential to expand to full-time based on performance and the homeschool’s needs. The exact schedule will be negotiated. The candidate will be required to work weekday mornings in-person in Palo Alto while the family is in California, and remotely (online) while the family is traveling (mostly in Europe). The remote teaching hours will require a start time around 6am Pacific Time to accommodate the family's schedule.

Compensation:

Competitive, based on qualifications and experience.

Location:

The homeschool is located in Downtown Palo Alto, California. Candidates from nearby areas are preferred.
