Part Time: IT Support Engineer

Position Summary

The IT Support Engineer will be responsible for Tier 1 support of our K-8 school in Richmond, CA. You will help implement technology support systems under the direction of the IT Manager to serve the schools’ students and staff, including the deployment and maintenance of hardware, software, and networking systems at the campus. You will work alongside technology support personnel at our other campus (in Vallejo, CA) to share best practices and will periodically assist each other on projects that impact both school campuses. Responsibilities

The IT Support Engineer will be responsible for:

  • Supporting the technology needs of Caliber students and staff in Richmond

○ Working in collaboration with the IT Manager to implement the appropriate technology systems (hardware, software, and data/analytics) that best support our academic model

○ Procuring, deploying, and maintaining tech hardware for students and staff

○ Efficiently and effectively responding to the day-to-day tech support needs of students and staff

○ Building and maintaining positive relationships with students, teachers, & staff

  • Maintaining a “students and teachers come first” culture of customer service

Qualifications

Experience:

  • Prior experience maintaining user accounts and other administrative duties requiring close attention to detail and strong organizational habits.
  • Experience with or a deep interest in the maintenance and repair of technology, including but not limited to phones, laptops, printers and copiers, chromebooks and networking peripherals.
  • Experience with diagnostic testing, troubleshooting or scientific research involving the testing of hypotheses in an institutional setting.
  • Prior experience with tech support within an educational environment is a strong plus.
  • 2+ years of relevant technology experience
  • Prior experience with tech support within an educational environment is a strong plus
  • Experience with technology procurement and vendor management, ideally including relationships with vendors who have worked in an educational context
  • Technical knowledge across a broad array of educational technology solutions. Preferred experience includes:

○ (i) Google Chromebook hardware, OS, and administration components

○ (ii) Microsoft and Google productivity applications (e.g., Office, Google Apps, etc.)

○ (iii) Windows, MacOS and iOS

○ (iv) student information systems (Illuminate, Clever)

○ (v) instructional and assessment software (Zearn, RazKids, CAASSP, Hapara)

○ (vi) networking infrastructure (Cisco Meraki)

  • Ability to learn quickly and independently research solutions with unfamiliar technology
  • Ability to replace commonly broken computer parts, like keyboards
  • Understanding of general computer maintenance, and repair
  • Understanding of disk cloning and imaging

● BA or BS degree and relevant coursework or certifications
