Part-time Curriculum Writer

The Curriculum Writer willwork with the CFC product team to develop and write cutting-edge, research-based social and emotional learning program content for schools and other educational settings.

The ideal candidate will have experience conceptualizing and writing research-based curriculum and other educational materials for students, teachers and parents/caregivers for grades K-5. In addition, this person will have experience working in a highly collaborative environment.

This contract position is estimated to be 20-40 hours per week for 6 months, with the possibility it may extend an additional 6 months. Our offices are location in the Belltown neighborhood of Seattle, Washington. While it is not required, the ability to work onsite occasionally is highly preferred.

Primary Responsibilities Include

  • Draft and/or revise lesson content for students in grades K-5
  • Incorporate feedback based on observation, research and other data to ensure lesson objectives are being met
  • Write lesson plans for teachers to accompany student lessons
  • Collaborate with script writers and other multi-media team members to ensure supporting media aligns with lesson objectives

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction, Instructional Design, or Curriculum Development
  • Experience conceptualizing and writing curriculum and educational materials for publication
  • Knowledge of current, effective practices in teaching, learning, and curriculum design
  • Experience writing published curricula for grades K-5
  • Demonstrated competence in creating materials for diverse populations, including culturally diverse, special needs, and urban settings
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work well independently and multitask
  • Ability to incorporate a variety of feedback into written work
  • Graduate degree in Curriculum and Instruction, Instructional Design, or Curriculum Development highly preferred
  • Experience with educational media, web-based program development and other emerging technologies highly preferred
