The Vice President (VP) is a member of the PLN executive team who provides leadership, vision, and strategic direction for the organization’s education programs which encompass nearly 1,500 students and families in our early education centers, charter schools, and afterschool programs. The VP of Student Success is responsible for developing and sustaining programs that promote academic excellence, appropriate social emotional development, school readiness and whole child wellness for children ages 6 weeks to 8th grade.

The VP has budgetary oversight for the early education division, charter schools and afterschool programs, supervises the Managing Directors for Charter Schools and Early Education, and provides overall management for approximately 200 team members in early education, charter schools and our afterschool program. A critical aspect of this role is ensuring the integration of wraparound mental health and comprehensive family support services for all school and center sites. The VP of Student Success develops and maintains positive relationships with CDE, LACOE, LAUSD, and other key community partners. This position reports directly to the CEO.


Key Responsibilities of the VP of Student Success include:

  • Instructional and Programmatic Leadership: Serve as PLN’s senior educational leader, ensuring consistency of academic programming and developmental approach for students in early education and charter schools. Refine and articulate PLN’s educational brand, specifically the interconnectedness of comprehensive student and family supports with consistent development and academic enrichment opportunities to support critical thinking skills and high academic achievement in an urban setting for children living in poverty.
  • Team Management and Culture Building: Set and implement a vision for the attraction, development and management of a high-performing team of early education and charter school education professionals aligned to deliver transformational educational and developmental outcomes for PLN students.
  • Program Operations: Ensure the implementation of guidelines and procedures for staff and students to ensure compliance with LAUSD, LACOE, CDE and OHS policies and any applicable state and federal laws and guidelines.
  • Financial Management: Manage the development and approval of annual budgets for the Early Education Program and the three Charter Schools (and associated programming).
  • Community Relations and Outreach: Serve as the public face for PLN educational programs. Actively collaborate with the Vice President of External Affairs and with the PLN Development Team to work with existing and pursue new sources for public and private funding to support maintenance and improvement of programs and projects.


In order to fulfill these responsibilities, the ideal VP of Student Success candidate will be/will have:

  • Demonstrated commitment to Para Los Niños’s mission of excellence in education, powerful families, and strong communities for children and youth to thrive.
  • An accomplished leader with 8+ years of success in professional and program management experience associated with educational services, social services, family development, and operational programs including at least five years of management and supervisory experience.
  • Experience managing multiple budgets, sites, multiple contracts and programs required.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills required. Bilingual (Spanish/English) preferred.
  • Knowledge of effective research-based instructional practices with English Learner students.


This position offers a competitive salary range of $186,000-$209,000 and robust benefits. More details can be provided upon request.
