Online Learning Librarian

Position Summary

Working from a CCA Family Service Center, the Online Learning Librarian provides leadership and management of the CCA online library, including the organization and delivery of online learning objects, e-texts, and e-reading tools that enhance information literacy skills in support of student success. The Online Learning Librarian supports both the learning department, instructional programs, and family services department at CCA in the development and implementation of excellent literacy opportunities across all courses and in learner and family engagement activities. This individual will report to the Director of K-12 Curriculum. The Online Learning Librarian will be responsible for the following tasks:

  • Provide leadership in planning, designing, delivering, and assessing online learning materials, objects, and tools that enhance information literacy skills and promote active learning.
  • Lead the development and maintenance of an online library with complementary physical copies as needed.
  • Engage in planning, promotion, and delivery of library resources, services, and activities.
  • Provide instruction, research assistance, and other reference services face-to-face and online.
  • Develop and maintain online research guides and other instructional materials.
  • Ensure all e-texts are appropriately assigned to courses for seamless delivery of instruction in the learning management system.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of best practices and current trends related to instructional technology and pedagogy, especially as they relate to different learning modalities.
  • Collaborate with CCA partners to further integrate library resources into the curriculum and/or into experiential learning opportunities.
  • Engage in assessment of library resources, services, and activities, together with other librarians and library administration.
  • Collaborate and foster collegial relationships with other school departments and external groups as appropriate.
  • Manage legal restrictions, rights, and approved usage of texts and digital materials.
  • Manage user groups, security, and permissions.
  • Secure texts, negotiate terms and permissions, monitor expirations and renewals for all e-book subscriptions.
  • Research and help implement new technologies that streamline platforms and processes.
  • Establish and manage e-book budget and invoices with the business office.
  • Maintain accurate procedures and records for the system.

Work Environment

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and other technology. 

Physical Demands

This is largely a sedentary role. Requires the ability to lift, squat, sit, bend or stand as necessary. Ability to travel to other sites/locations as needed.

Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in library science, computer science or a related field
  • Previous project management and data entry experience
  • 3+ years in project management, technology-related implementations, and/or strategic planning roles

Preferred Education and Experience

  • Master’s degree
  • 5+ years in project management, technology-related implementations, and/or strategic planning roles
  • Background in education is beneficial
  • Bi-lingual

Additional Eligibility Qualifications

  • Valid PA Driver’s License
  • Appropriate Automobile Insurance Coverage
