National K-12 Sales Manager (contract-based)

  • Recruiting and leading nationwide team of outside commission-based independent sales reps to achieve sales targets
  • Establishing productive and professional relationships with key personnel in school and related educational accounts

Job Brief

We are looking for an experienced national sales manager to contribute to our company’s sales objectives. Responsibilities include engaging an outside commission-based sales team of independent sales reps and building long-term client relationships.

As a national sales manager, you would use your creativity and thorough knowledge of sales processes to provide innovative ideas for business growth. Communication and team management skills are also essential for this position.

Ultimately, you should aspire to develop and maintain successful relationships with large school and education-related accounts.

Ideally, you are an experienced independent sales rep with a focus on building teams and selling in the education market. You have industry experience.

This is a contract-based opportunity to get in at the beginning! We are launching into the education market with our first product and looking for key members of our team! There is an opportunity for more products and growth.

Responsibilities

  • Engage and recruit a team of outside commission-based independent sales reps knowledgeable in the education market.
  • Develop and implement effective sales strategies.
  • Lead sales team to achieve sales targets.
  • Participate in training for sales team.
  • Establish productive and professional relationships with key personnel in key educational accounts.
  • Negotiate and close agreements with large customers.
  • Monitor and analyze performance metrics and implement improvements.
  • Prepare sales reports.
  • Identify key markets for initial launch then subsequent tiers for growth.
  • Perform research and identify new potential customers and new market opportunities.
  • Provide timely and effective solutions aligned with clients’ needs.
  • Liaise with communications/strategy agency and Abingdon Press to ensure brand consistency.
  • Advise on sales collateral, messaging, customer offers.
  • Stay up-to-date with product and initiatives and ensure sales team members are on board.
  • Attend national conferences and events as requested.
  • Manage additional own territory/region (additional commission).
  • Provide customer and market feedback to Abingdon Press.

Requirements

  • Proven work experience as a national sales manager in an educational market with the ability to build nationwide teams.
  • Industry expertise and experience with independent sales teams.
  • Experience managing a high performance sales team.
  • Ability to understand and analyze sales performance metrics.
  • Solid customer service attitude with excellent negotiation skills.
  • Strong communication and team management skills.
  • Analytical skills with a problem-solving attitude.
  • Availability to travel to conferences as needed.
