Multimedia Storyteller

Global Citizen Year Inc. - Oakland, California or Remote - Full time

We’re looking for a power storyteller - someone clever and creative who will cut through the ‘noise’ to amplify Global Citizen Year’s story, brand, and voice. Reporting to the Associate Director of Creative & Communications, this role will work cross-functionally to design innovative and fresh collateral that resonates with our audiences across all channels. Our ideal candidate has a gut instinct for what makes a good story, and a proven track record of creating engaging content. Operating with a deep understanding of social platforms, the Multimedia Storyteller will be the driving force behind the content that brings our brand to life.

YOUR OPPORTUNITY FOR IMPACT

Amplify our brand: Spearhead our content strategy from top to bottom.

  • Design and own our organization wide content strategy.
  • Identify and consolidate content needs for all departments; ensure the appropriate balance of consistency and nuance for each audience.
  • Create an organizational content calendar to anticipate needs and schedule content projects.

Build a content engine: Develop content to engage our target audiences.

  • Create fresh materials to tell Global Citizen Year’s story in new and innovative ways, including but not limited to:
    • Social media posts and videos
    • Marketing emails
    • Blog content for website
    • Donor stewardship materials
  • Collaborate and coordinate with team members, our community of students and alumni, and various contractors (graphic designers, copywriters, etc.).
  • Leverage existing content to produce high quality, on brand media collateral.
  • Conceptualize and create content for campaigns on paid media channels and social platforms.
  • Manage our Social Media Strategist to execute our content strategy on social platforms.

Elevate our content systems: Build and maintain the systems that will help everyone at the organization share our story.

  • Develop systems to regularly source inspiring stories from our community.
  • Create and maintain a searchable database of student and alumni stories for use in marketing, development, PR, and programs.
  • Look for opportunities for us to improve our content management; help the team work smarter, faster, and more efficiently.
  • Serve as go-to resource for org-wide content needs.

The following is required:

  • A deep understanding of and experience working across social platforms (including but not limited to: Instagram, Facebook, Youtube, Twitter, SnapChat and TikTok).
  • Experience in digital copywriting.
  • Excellent writer with the ability to communicate in a variety of voices.

Bonus points if have/are:

  • A portfolio of work showcasing successful digital storytelling and campaign work across multiple platforms.
  • Graphic design and/or video editing experience
  • Experience developing content for Gen-Z
