Middle School Social Studies Teacher

Caliber Schools - Richmond, California - Full time

Position Summary:

We are looking for an exceptional educator to join our Middle School Social Studies team! You’ll work collectively with your grade level colleagues, planning curriculum and owning the achievement of every student in the grade, not just your home room. You will be encouraged and supported to lead engaging, project-based, and reading intensive Social Studies lessons that integrate all of our pillars: Heart, Smart, Think, and Act.

You will use data to drive your instruction, consistently assessing and reassessing student learning to ensure each child’s personalized learning plan addresses their unique needs and goals for growth while also evaluating the student groupings across your three classes and making adjustments as necessary. You will support your students’ holistic development by implementing social-emotional programing including Restorative Justice, Mindfulness and PBIS – Positive Behavior Intervention Supports.

  • Collaboratively design and implement curricula and activities to meet and exceed academic standards.
  • Facilitate and own students’ mastery of academic standards.
  • Facilitate a Blended Learning Model. Use technology tools as part of instruction. Familiarize yourself with software programs and improve expertise over time.
  • Facilitate small group instruction with students working towards targeted outcomes.
  • Design and use assessment data to refine instructional practices and personalize learning for each student.
  • Implement and support school wide social emotional programming.
  • Communicate effectively with students, families, and colleagues.
  • Approach professional development with commitment and reflection.


  • 2 or more years of teaching experience, preferably in a high performing school driving excellent student outcomes.
  • Experience working with diverse student populations.
  • Preferred experience with social-emotional learning and restorative practices.
  • Experience integrating technology into the classroom.
