Middle School Computer Science Teacher

The Blake School - Hopkins, Minnesota - Full time

The Blake School seeks to hire a full-time, dynamic grade 6-8 computer science teacher for the 2021-22 school year. The ideal candidate will have an advanced knowledge of computer science and computational thinking, strong collaboration skills and a demonstrated commitment to using learner-centered pedagogy. Blake will launch our Middle School computer science program in Fall 2021 to complement our Lower and Upper School programs, and we seek candidates with a desire and a capacity to shape the MS program and to design curriculum to meet the needs of students.

Middle School faculty regularly engage with the broader community experience by advising students, chaperoning school events, and participating in school meetings, committees and events.

Blake is particularly interested in candidates who will enrich the diversity of identity, lived experience and thinking that makes a community strong and empowers students to engage across differences. Preferred qualifications:

  • Undergraduate degree in or extensive experience with computer science principles and practices.
  • Experience teaching computer science principles to middle school students, whether in or out of a school setting.
  • Intercultural competence: the ability to recognize and bridge differences of perspective, identity and lived experience.
