MicroCred and CEU Manager

ASCD - Alexandria, Virginia or Remote - Full time


The MicroCred and CEU Manager will work with senior leadership on the design, development, and implementation of a micro-credentialing, CEU, and University Academic Crediting program at ASCD to complement their professional learning programs. The role will define and manage the central coordination of policy development and review, formulation, communication, implementation, and evaluation of each of the credentialing processes. Collaboratively working with the staff of the Learning and Learning Systems department, this person will be responsible for ensuring our learning content meets the guidelines needed to be credentialed. Creating and maintaining relationships with the credentialing/accrediting providers is critical to success in this role. This person will be responsible for developing a team of reviewers and ensuring they meet the ASCD defined rigorous standards.


  • Identify and develop a micro-credentialing strategy and process for ASCD to offer micro-credentialing.
  • Develop and implement a plan on how ASCD will offer CEUs /CPE/Clock Hours for identified courses/learning experiences that will be accepted both nationally and internationally.
  • Prepares as well as submits appropriate paperwork and documentation for new credentialing as well as the re-certification or additional information requests of existing credentialed staff.
  • Identify and develop regional university partners ASCD can collaborate with to offer University Academic Credit Courses.
  • Works across the departments to establish processes needed to meet the requirements of our partners for CEUs, academic credentialing, and micro-credentialing.
  • Responsible for working with our content/product development teams to ensure we meet the Professional Development Guidelines to qualify for ESSA funding.
  • Assist in the review, development, and maintenance of Credentialing Policies and Procedures, desktop policies and advises on the development of critical guidelines and best practices.
  • Prepare management and operational reports for internal and external customers.
  • Determine and maintain the records needed for the ASCD CEUs, academic credentialing, and micro-credentialing.
  • Reviews credentialing applications for completeness and accuracy and works with providers to ensure required information is available to complete processes.
  • Conducts preliminary credentials verification within 72 hours of receipt of required documentation.
  • Tracks licenses to ensure any issues are discovered and evaluated, and provides re-credentials, as needed.
  • Hire, train, and manage the Internal Credentials Team as needed.
  • Collaborates with the Learning Systems team to incorporate badging and other recognition strategies.
  • Works collaboratively with the Instructional Design team to ensure our content meets recommended guidelines for CEUs, Academic Credentialing, and micro-credentialing.



  • A four-year college degree in a related field of study is preferred.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the trends, issues, and topics in pre-K–16 education.
  • Knowledge of the principles and techniques required for developing high-quality online credentialing certifications.
  • In-depth understanding of the education industry and the specific role for K-16.
  • Professional, online, continuing, and adult education

Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to make content and editorial decisions that successfully balance the perspectives of multiple audiences.
  • Strong interpersonal skills are needed to lead personnel and work on cross-unit teams.
  • Ability to build strong rapports with clients and vendors.
  • Excellent professional writing, editing, and speaking skills.
  • Ability to learn and administer web-based office applications for online collaboration, document/content management, and intranet management.
  • Strong computer and project management skills with a willingness to learn new systems. Advanced competence in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint required.


  • 3-5 years of experience in the education or training field, with at least three years’ experience in online education or educational technology.
  • Experience with online learning principles and technologies, including accreditation and credentialing work in Learning Management Systems.
  • Demonstrated experience leading project teams and managing complex tasks.
  • Experience in pre-K–16 education.
  • Experience with technologies for education and professional learning settings.
  • Experience in budget management.
