Media Support, Derivative Custom (Contract)

This position will be employed through Headway consulting firm working remotely throughout the US.

Hourly Rate: $23

The Media Support Contractor supports the production of custom derivative ePubs and courseware for approx. 100 projects per year within the Curriculum Solutions division. This role will focus on supporting pilot digital-first workflows and enhanced ePub production for courseware products. The Media Support Contractor reports to the Executive Media Editor and works collaboratively with the Curriculum Solutions, Derivative team.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Content Management and Quality Assurance tasks including CPM QA / review of custom ePubs at all stages for assigned projects; assume CPM tasks in digital-first workflow (Pug) involving exporting Superset ePub source files in CMS, in Frost and with Lumina, managing content updates via Frost with vendor project manager, pushing ePubs to Vitalsource for review, coordinating editorial review of ePubs in Vitalsource, pushing ePub profiles to CMS projects, validating and signing off on final ePub.
  • Media Project Management tasks include overseeing enhanced ePub GMCS-QA fixes (in Frost and VitalSource) for assigned projects, managing in-course eBook builds and QA for assigned projects.
  • Work to understand and implement accessibility standards with vendors, authors, editors, designers, etc
  • Attend status meetings, maintain stacking updates and communicate clearly and collaboratively with other project stakeholders about status, scheduling, and budget

Required Skills / Knowledge:

  • 1+ years' experience in education publishing
  • Familiarity with the tools and protocols used for publishing content electronically, including: ePub, HTML, XML, and the software development lifecycle (SDLC)
  • Experience demonstrating high level of organization, detail-orientation, and self-motivation
  • Experience successfully communicating complex information verbally and in writing with a variety of stakeholders
  • Demonstrated organizational and project management skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently in a fast-paced environment, prioritize effectively, work well in group problem-solving situations, and work within an approved budget

  • Bachelors degree required
