Math Teacher

Art of Problem Solving - Multiple Locations - Part time

Art of Problem Solving (AoPS) develops educational opportunities for many of the most eager students in the world. Since 2003, we have trained tens of thousands of the country’s top students, including nearly all the members of the US International Math Olympiad team, through our online school, learning centers, textbooks, and online learning systems. Over the years, our international online community of advanced problem-solvers has grown to over 800,000 members. While our primary focus has been math for most of our history, we have started expanding into new subjects, such as language arts, science, and computer science.

The AoPS Academy is hiring part-time Math Instructors for the current 2021-2022 academic year at our 10 locations. We are looking for outstanding instructors experienced with teaching math to advanced learners in grades 2-12.

This position requires a minimum initial commitment of 3 hours per week (for teaching one course). Each course meets once per week for 1 hour 45 minutes. Please note that AoPS Academy is an after-school program with classes in the evenings and on weekends. Visit our Course Catalog to see class offerings.

NOTE: This is an in-person position at one of our campus locations. AoPS is strictly following CDC guidelines.

  • Actively engage students in the course material throughout each class.
  • Expertly manage a classroom of 12-16 students maximum.
  • Dedicate some time before & after each class for preparation and debriefing.
  • (Optional) Grade students' work and substitute for classes from time to time.

Benefits:

  • Paid Sick Leave
  • 401K retirement plan with company match
  • Employee discount on classes and Beast Academy Online (BAO) yearly subscriptions

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in a STEM-related field is required. Master's/PhD is preferred.
  • Some experience working with advanced students, particularly grades 2-12, is preferred.
  • Availability on weekday evenings or weekends required.
  • Candidates must be located in the Greater San Diego area and must be able to commute to our campus.

Please note that in order to be considered for this position you must be legally authorized to work in the US. We are unable to offer sponsorship, including STEM-OPT and H-1B.

We're an equal opportunity employer. All applicants will be considered for employment without attention to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, veteran or disability status.
