DEPARTMENT OVERVIEW

WGBH is a public media leader, based in Boston. The WGBH Education Department (https://www.wgbh.org/foundation/education) researches, creates and distributes media-integrated resources to support healthy development and educational impact for children and youth. We bring together engaging, popular programming with deep insights into child development, educational content and community dynamics. True to our public mission, we have a particular focus on underserved children and the adults who teach and care for them. Many of the educational materials developed at WGBH reside on PBS LearningMedia (www.pbslearningmedia.org), a free digital service that supports Pre-K–12 educators and learners with compelling, standards-aligned educational media resources. We co-lead PBS LearningMedia with PBS. We also work with WGBH brands such as Arthur, Design Squad Global, NOVA, and Frontline (among others) to develop, produce, and disseminate content for formal learning and community educational settings.

JOB OVERVIEW

The Marketing Manager must be strategic and results-oriented, with an eye on the big picture, but also with attention to detail. The ideal candidate has expertise has expertise in digital marketing in the PreK-12 sector, experience working with teachers, and a strong track record creating social media communities. Top-notch Google Analytics skills are required, as well as general experience analyzing digital marketing campaigns for success metrics. Excellent writing and communication skills are critical, as is the ability to handle multiple projects and deadlines. This position is responsible for a significant amount of science content marketing, so science experience is preferable, but not required. We seek a colleague who is comfortable working across diverse stakeholders in a mission-driven organization, and who is a skilled collaborator while also capable of taking initiative and functioning independently. RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop strategies and campaigns for marketing PreK-12 content produced by WGBH Education for PBS LearningMedia and other platforms. Campaigns may include digital marketing, conferences and other outreach events, branding, collateral, and advertising.
  • Manage marketing calendars, planning content, digital campaign mix and timing.
  • Continuously assess marketing campaigns using Google Analytics and other measures. Adjust campaigns as needed to achieve desired results. Regularly use Google Analytics to report traffic to PBS LearningMedia, and occasionally, other content platforms.
  • Build, QA, and launch effective social media and other digital marketing campaigns.
  • Stay up-to-date in best practices in digital marketing and educator engagement, as well as social media marketing and analytics, in order to increase the visibility of WGBH Education Content. Make innovation recommendations to keep campaigns fresh.
  • Build relationships across the department, especially with content development and production, to understand the content development calendar and content details, in order to optimize timing and direction of marketing campaigns, and to optimize co-promotion opportunities.
  • Collaborate with key WGBH departments to promote Education work both within and outside the Foundation. This includes communications, creative services, social media, marketing teams in other departments, and events.
  • Collaborate with Teacher Engagement Manager and other team members to support Massachusetts and regional educator engagement efforts, with the specific goals of increasing the reach, engagement value, and impact of WGBH Education's work.
  • Make regular recommendations about optimizing content via SEO and linking to increase traffic to resources.
  • Other responsibilities as required to support projects and initiatives in the Education marketing group, and across the Education department.

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
