COVID-19 remote learning environment has made our mission ever more urgent and important. We're building a one-of-a-kind product in the market, a multilingual family engagement platform that connects families and teachers using human and artificial intelligence powered, two-way translated messages and personalized supports — eliminating language, time limitations, and know-how as barriers to school/family connection.

Millions of teachers and families are using TalkingPoints in their classrooms and schools and districts across the U.S. TalkingPoints works with key school district partners such as Oakland Unified, Wake County and NYC DOE. We have won awards from NYU, MIT,, Ashoka, Forbes and are backed by, AT&T, Carnegie Corporation, Schmidt Futures, Stanford University and NewSchools Venture Fund, to name a few. Most recently we were named an evidence-based learning platform to support by MIT's J-Pal, and our research partners include University of Chicago and MIT.

The Opportunity

As our first ever marketing role, you'll have the unique opportunity to take a mission critical leadership role in the inflection point of our organization to take our growth to the next level, and to take advantage of a time when we can make a difference for millions of students and their families in this challenging environment. You'll be working closely with a small but supercharged, tightly knit, mission-driven to lead all areas of marketing to ensure we can serve even more students to succeed through effective family-school partnerships.

To date, TalkingPoints has solely grown word-of-mouth, so this role will both craft and execute a comprehensive marketing strategy, driving growth through digital channels, brand awareness, engagement marketing as well as product marketing for prospective and current TalkingPoints users and partners across the customer lifecycle. We're looking for an energetic marketer who is excited to roll up their sleeves and make an impact!


  • Growth, digital and community marketing
  • Develop and lead consumer acquisition strategy and conversion that will facilitate further an already successful word of mouth growth momentum (e.g., referrals, social media)
  • Develop, execute, analyze, experiment and optimize growth marketing strategies across digital marketing, social media and traditional marketing campaigns across the customer funnel
  • Cultivate channels of additional growth which will include educator and school leader/education communities and partnerships with key associations/groups
  • Support sales enablement through partner-facing marketing materials
  • Engagement/lifecycle marketing
  • Partner with the product team to define user journeys and increase engagement and usage across all funnel stages: signup, activation, engagement, and retention (primary channels are email and app notifications)
  • Think deeply about our audience segments, optimizing strategies to ensure we’re delivering the right message at the right time
  • Create A/B tests (subject lines, creative, content) to identify and optimize on what works best
  • Brand marketing and communications
  • Craft consistent and compelling brand messaging and positioning
  • Identify and help drive meaningful and engaging content to support our marketing goals, such as blog posts, newsletters, articles, white papers, videos, and other materials to educate current and potential customers in the K-12 space
  • Ensure all communications meet quality, branding, voice, and content guidelines

Who you are


  • 5+ years in direct B2C marketing experience (preference for growth marketing) for digital/SaaS products/platforms
  • Strong analytical and data-driven decision making skills with the ability to establish key metrics, implement data tools, and tell compelling stories through qualitative and quantitative data
  • Deep understanding of growth funnels and optimization at each stage
  • Strong track record of scaling marketing efforts; having designed, developed, and driven overall marketing strategy & execution
  • Strong written communication and UX writing skills
  • Comfortable wearing multiple hats - experience in a high-growth startup is a plus

Nice to haves

  • Experience with US-based K-12 education systems
  • Experience in or empathy with communities we serve (e.g., underserved populations, education, immigration, bilingual and/or multicultural environments)
