Marketing Manager

OpenSciEd - New York, New York or Remote - Full time

The OpenSciEd Marketing Manager reports to the Senior Director of Operations and is responsible for the messaging and promotion of our brand, instructional materials, and professional learning services. The Marketing Manager plays a key role in overseeing and supporting our network of partners in the marketing and distribution of co-branded programs, kits, and professional learning. The Marketing Manager will be responsible for analyzing market segmentation as well as marketing copy and visual design. The person in this role will need excellent interpersonal and communication skills and demonstrate sound leadership and decision-making ability. An outstanding marketing manager will be someone whose expertise translates into increased brand awareness, cache, and affection among K-12 educators.

The Marketing Manager must be an analytical thinker with an audience-first mindset. They should know the promise and limitations of educational marketing channels, focusing on making cost-effective investment decisions based upon reach and audience. Expertise on social media platforms, including analytics, and understanding each platform's nuances, advantages, and shortcomings is a must.

OpenSciEd’s marketing efforts include internal projects and collaboration with commercial partners. OpenSciEd manages internal marketing campaigns to build affection and cache for our brand, products, and services. And, OpenSciEd informs and approves marketing campaigns created and implemented by our commercial partners. The Marketing Manager will work closely with OpenSciEd’s Commercial Partnership Director and marketing teams in partner organizations to provide feedback and approval on partner marketing campaigns.

OpenSciEd relies on external creative agencies for many of our marketing efforts; therefore, the Marketing Manager will be managing work product and relationships with contracted agencies.

Key Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Develop, manage, and implement a marketing strategy including campaigns, collateral (such as white papers, blogs, infographics, case studies, and videos), web content/design, emails, sales collateral, presentation decks, and PR content
  • Partner with distributors to extend our market reach and maintain standard messaging about our brand and products. Collaborate on content creation with partners and approve of partner campaigns
  • Analyze campaigns, messaging, list segmentation, etc. to maximize the effectiveness and efficiency of campaigns and develop new ideas to improve brand marketing and exposure
  • Ensure cross-functional collaboration with other members of the OpenSciEd team to improve brand management across the organization and ensure effective marketing efforts
  • Increasing brand, product, and services awareness, cache, and affection
  • Collaborate with the other members of the OpenSciEd team to develop effective strategies and content
  • Develop and manage effective relationships with creative service providers to implement ongoing marketing efforts
  • Develop, manage, and evaluate a marketing budget
  • Keeping informed of marketing strategies and trends
  • Orchestrating digital content strategies across all online platforms
  • Driving traffic and engagement that translates to brand promotion and product use
  • Develop content for the website and ensure SEO best practices
  • Assist in market research efforts to uncover the viability of current and existing products/services
  • Collaborate with media organizations and advertising agencies
  • Promoting our brand at trade shows and industry-related events
  • Other duties as assigned
