On average, U.S. students are with substitute teachers for 5% of the typical school year. That means our students have substitute teachers for more than six months of their K-12 school career. The problem? We're suffering from a national shortage of substitute teachers.Swing Education is focused on tackling the substitute teacher shortage. We make it easy for great schools and quality subs to find each other. We help schools access more subs and offload tedious work (recruiting, screening, payroll, etc.) and we help subs find jobs, gain experience and build their professional network.Swing is a revenue generating, Series B, YC company (through ImagineK12).

The Position:

The Talent Coordinator will contribute to the growth of Swing Education marketplace by offering our substitute teacher candidates a quality onboarding experience with a high level of customer service. They will support and streamline the Talent team’s substitute teacher onboarding operations across all regions, maintaining timely, high quality communication and interaction with prospective candidates.An ideal candidate is a fast learner, detail-oriented, and values delivering high quality customer service. Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Respond to emails, texts, and online chats from candidates related to onboarding process
  • Review key documentation during screening process including TB tests, credentials, resumes and background checks and engage in necessary follow-up with candidates.
  • Conduct standing calls with prospective substitute teachers to provide an overview of the onboarding process
  • Process bonuses for newly activated substitute teachers
  • Identify useful key trends, such as frequently asked questions, that should inform product improvements for the onboarding experience
  • Identify and escalate bugs in the onboarding process to Product and Engineering.
  • Coordinate with Regional Talent team members to understand regional goals and ensure all regions’ candidates are being supported in a timely manner


  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • 1-3 years of work experience in customer service preferred
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Commitment to diversity and inclusion in working with diverse teams
  • Detail-oriented and able to keep tasks organized
  • Outstanding time management and prioritization skills, particularly in a dynamic rapidly changing work environment
  • Facility with multitasking, ability to accomplish numerous tasks in an effective and timely manner
  • Good judgment and the ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion
