Position Summary

Do you believe in the power of social media to galvanize a movement? Do you believe a well-told story can inspire lasting change? Rocketship Public Schools is seeking a driven Marketing Associate to help take our brand, social media strategy, and digital presence to the next level. The Marketing Associate is the storyteller of Rocketship Public Schools and will use digital marketing and social media tools to bring the magic that happens inside our classrooms to our diverse audiences with style, impact, and empathy. In this role, you will work closely with the Marketing team to build and execute on an annual social media strategy across paid and organic platforms. You will also build solid relationships across different departments, schools, and families to represent the voices of our communities with authenticity and dignity. You are an excellent writer who can capture the essence, tone, and focus of a story. You are data-driven and know how to harness the right channel(s) to reach the right audience with the right content at the right time. Most importantly you bring a deep and personal passion for social impact and share our commitment to educational equity. Key Responsibilities

  • Sourcing, drafting and publishing daily social media content across all channels aligned to an editorial and messaging calendar
  • Monitoring, listening and responding to conversations on social media to facilitate connections and increase brand engagement
  • Analyzing and reporting on social media metrics
  • Executing organic and paid social marketing campaigns to support student recruiting and talent recruiting on Facebook’s Ad Manager platform
  • Creating, organizing, and sharing marketing assets and tools, including photography, videography, documents, and templates
  • Copywriting and editing in brand voice and tone across blog, email, and social media
  • Keeping on top of education reform stories in the media and curating a weekly media digest email to internal audiences
  • Serving as a community manager across Rocketship school Facebook groups and other online communities
  • Visiting our school communities to source stories, create photo and video content, and build relationships
  • Support website maintenance and compliance for our school-specific pages

Required Qualifications

  • Strong passion and commitment to social justice, diversity, equity, and inclusion in education
  • Experience working with communities similar to the communities that Rocketship serves
  • Experience in communications, marketing, PR, design, or journalism
  • Experience managing social media platforms including Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and LinkedIn
  • Exceptional written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills – you must be an excellent writer
  • Professional and customer-focused with strong relationship-building skills
  • Strong attention to detail and project management skills
  • College degree in a relevant field
  • Fluent in Spanish – strong writing and translation skills

Desired Qualifications

  • Basic Adobe Creative Suite Editing Skills: Photoshop, InDesign, Premiere Pro
  • Proven photography and videography experience
  • Experience working in/with elementary schools
