Next Gen Personal Finance (NGPF) (www.ngpf.org) is a well-funded, non-profit based in Palo Alto, CA, with a mission to revolutionize the teaching of personal finance in all schools and to improve the financial lives of the next generation of Americans. We believe that ALL young people deserve a personal finance education that’s free, high-quality, and accessible.

Founded in May 2014, NGPF’s curriculum and professional development activities support over 16,000 high school finance educators serving a million students. Our work has been featured in theNew York Times, Wall Street Journal, Channel One News and has been recognized by the Jump$tart Coalition for Personal Financial Literacy for innovative leadership in the personal finance education space. We are looking for a passionate and energetic professional to scale our professional development efforts and support teachers.

Role

As a Marketing and Communications Specialist, you will engage daily with teachers via social media, our NGPF website, and through our email distribution channels to keep our existing teachers “sticky” while also attracting new teachers to the NGPF community. Additionally, you will create sustainable structures for onboarding and supporting our community of teachers.

The position will be based at our office in downtown Palo Alto just off University Ave, within a 7 minute walk to Caltrain. There may be opportunities to attend teacher events and conferences to deepen your knowledge of our core customer, educators.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Produce engaging, sharable content such as newsletters, social media posts, blog entries, product releases, surveys, etc. that will bring high value to personal finance educators nationwide
  • Spearhead our efforts to redesign the NGPF onboarding experience to better suit teachers just joining the NGPF community
  • Analyze data and develop innovative but sustainable structures for communicating effectively with teachers around curriculum, professional development, and advocacy work
  • Contribute ideas on how we can continue to support educators in new ways
  • Provide customer support to teachers who may need assistance with or have questions about NGPF resources or events
  • As-needed tasks which contribute to the organization’s overall goal

Qualifications

  • 3+ years experience in a marketing/communications role
  • Experience in education field and understanding how to market to teachers is a plus
  • Excellent writing and proofreading skills
  • Acute attention to detail and organization, with ability to design effective communication systems and structures
  • Familiarity with popular social media platforms as well as other online digital communication tools
  • Complete comfort giving and receiving high impact collegial feedback
  • Mission-oriented with desire to increase access to personal financial education for all
  • Proven ability to work successfully and autonomously in fast paced environment with minimal supervision
  • Flexibility to take on additional tasks that are outside the job description and advance our work
  • Sense of urgency when completing critical tasks
  • Bachelor’s degree
