The Managing Operations Consultant will be responsible for managing the start up functions and daily operations for Digital Pioneers Academy. This is a 6-month consulting position with the possibility of a longer term position at the end of the contract. We are looking for a leader in organizational management with a successful track record. There will be special consideration for those who are motivated to work for an educational reform institution. The ideal candidate will have experience working in education operations, preferably for a charter school.

The Managing Operations Consultant will:

•Work with the school Principal and CEO to develop and manage the school’s budget

•Maintain accurate records of financial transactions and submit them for processing

•Develop and ensure the timely implementation of all items on the workplan

•Liaise with leadership to make decisions for operational activities and set strategic goals

•Manage relationships/agreements with external partners/vendors

•Prepare DPA for start up mission critical functions for Fall 2018 

•Provide oversight of the planning and execution of school special events

•Ensure compliance with all state, federal, and local regulations

Candidate Requirements:

•Proven experience as Director of Operations or equivalent position

•Excellent organizational and leadership abilities

•Outstanding communication and people skills

•Knowledge of legal rules and guidelines in education

•Working knowledge of data analysis and performance/operation metrics

•Comfort with technology; moderate to advanced skills in navigating computer hardware and software.

Digital Pioneers Academy

The mission of Digital Pioneers Academy (DPA) is to develop the next generation of innovators. We prepare students to meet or exceed the highest academic standards, while cultivating the strength of character necessary to both graduate from four-year colleges and thrive in 21stcentury careers. DPA will ultimately be a college preparatory middle and high school (6th-12thgrade) for students from Ward 7 and 8 in Washington, DC. Beginning with sixth grade and adding one grade per year, DPA will provide a unique, personalized educational experience that integrates best practices from schools across the country, preparing students to be innovators and active citizens in our technology-driven world. DPA’s learning model will leverage a curriculum built around traditional subjects with the critical inclusion of Computer Science as a core content area. Through core classes and personalized, project-based work, students will develop computational thinking skills, a set of capabilities that can be flexibly applied to succeed in four-year college and in a variety of fields. In addition to rigorous academics and project-based learning, our innovative approach focuses on character building, diverse out-of-school experiences (“expeditions”), and developing the social and emotional capacities of our students.
