Salary: The salary range for this role is $113,750-$136,250

Role Overview:

Valor is seeking a Managing Director of Culture (MDC) to partner with our Chief Culture Officer to support our vision and strategic plan for Valor’s Compass program and results across all three Valor schools. The Managing Director of Culture will play an integral role supporting our network’s three principals and schools to meet our ambitious culture and human-development centered goals across the middle and high school grades. Below is a list of responsibilities that provides an overview of the duties of the MDC:

Key Responsibilities:

Collaborative Leadership (40%)

  • Lead our Culture Teams at each school including the Assistant Principals, Associate Head of School of Culture, Compass Coaches and House Team Leaders in their implementation of our Tier 1-3 Culture Systems.
  • Coordinate with our Chief Culture Officer in the implementation of our Tier 3 systems including the Compass Care Team and our Compass Counselors

Role-Based Projects & Responsibilities (40%)

  • Develop and manage the implementation of Powered By Compass professional development for all staff including leading professional development
  • Manage externally contracted staff in the codification (development of resources, handbooks, tools) of our Tier 1-3 culture systems
  • Manage implementation of our mentoring program across our three schools

Family & CommunitySupport (20%)

  • With CCO and school leaders, manage high-need student, family, and faculty situations that require individualized responses (including high-need IEPs, faculty relationship issues, student discipline concerns, Title IX process, etc)

Key Experiences and Qualifications:

  • 5+ years previous experience as a senior network and/or school leader
  • 3+ years of teaching or comparable school-based experience with exceptional results
  • 3+ years of experience managing and and/or managing the development of a culture team and outstanding professional development
  • Strong technical skills with fluency in Gmail and Google Suites (Google Sheets, Slides, Docs), and ability to learn new tech platforms quickly
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to prioritize well and to work efficiently under pressure
  • A demonstrated track record of meeting high expectations and accomplishing goals even in the face of obstacles
  • Experience managing multiple projects and deadlines, with the ability to efficiently and effectively complete tasks in a fast-paced environment
  • A history of working well as part of a team, with a strong “whatever it takes” orientation
  • Ability to model, live, and reinforce the school’s core values inside and outside the classroom with colleagues, scholars, parents, and the larger community
  • Optimism, resilience, curiosity, a sense of humor, and a burning passion for personal growth and student success
  • Bachelor's degree, with an advanced degree strongly preferred
  • Ability to handle confidential matters with discretion
  • Ability to model the mission, values, and goals of the school to all staff, parents, students, and the community

Compensation & Benefits
