We areseeking a Managing Director, HR and People Operations to set thevision and lead the execution of ANet's human resource functionwhile spearheading innovative HR initiatives that drive equitableoutcomes for all staff members. Reporting to and working closelywith the Vice President, Talent, the Managing Director will serveas an organizational leader responsible for a wide range ofcritical work streams, including people data systems, employeerelations, and ANet's operating policies. A successful ManagingDircector will know how to manage and mitigate HR legal risk, butwill also advocate for HR and talent-related systems and policiesthat support ANet's goal to be a diverse, inclusive, andanti-racist organization.

This positionrequires an ability to think strategically about problems as wellas a knack for tactical execution. The Managing Director will actas a trusted partner to ANet's leaders on HR matters, coordinateresource planning operations, and design and drive inclusive andsustainable employee-related services, policies, and processes.This individual will manage an HR Manager and will be a member ofANet's Talent Team.


Set vision for and drive execution of HR strategy, policies, andprocedures

Ensure all HRsystems, processes, and policies embody ANet's goal to be adiverse, inclusive, and anti-racist organization through closepartnership with ANet's Equity & Anti-Oppression team and theHR Change team

Act as thePEO Relationship Manager, overseeing HR Manager's execution ofpayroll and benefits administration

Developcompensation and benefits strategy and processes (including salarybanding, annual calibration, total rewards/recognition, and titlingframework) that consider both external market-based factors andinternal equity so that ANet can offer a robust value propositionthat attracts and retains top talent

Design andexecute leave processes, including FMLA, ADA, parental leave,etc.

Manage ANet'sadvancement philosophy and promotion process

Own thedevelopment and rollout/implementation of policies, benefits, andANet's employee handbook

Overseebenefits administration (through HR manager) to ensure employeesmaximize ANet's benefits

Work closelywith ANet's legal counsel, ensuring compliance with all state,federal, and school district policies and riskmitigation

Provide managers and team leads with training, materials, andcoaching around HR-related needs

Design andmanage HR-related internal guidance and communications thatproactively address the needs of ANet's employees andmanagers

Manageperformance improvement plans and termination protocols, workingside-by-side with managers to execute them, and collaboration withManaging Director, Talent Development

Overseeemployee relations and ombudsman processes and issues, providingconsultation, facilitation, and resolution to others based on theirproximity to the issue/team

Work withlegal counsel to provide training and resources to managers toensure compliance with employment laws and regulations

Communicatenew hire and promotion-related salary ranges to Recruitment &Staffing Support team and hiring managers, providing offer guidanceand approving final offers

Support Vice President, Talent and Chief Financial Officer inannual talent planning and strategic HR initiatives

Manageteams to keyannual planning milestones and ensure strong coordination,communication, and systems across stakeholders

Convenetalent team leaders with appropriate org leaders (and externalexperts/advisors, when needed) and facilitate meetings that move HRand people decisions forward

Advise ANet'sleaders on key HR questions, conducting external research andasserting recommendations that align strong HR practices withorganizational needs

Determine ANet's people data infrastructure and driveinsights

Drive the useof data analytics to produce insights and innovative HR solutionsfor ANet's leaders and to identify where inequities exist withinour internal HR processes in order to drive toward equitablesolutions

Maintainaccurate and up-to-date HR data systems and fulfill all internaland external data reporting requests, collaborating with TalentTeam staff who manage other talent-related data systems asneeded

Track andcontribute HR-relatedmetrics to theoverarching Talent Team Dashboard (including data related toemployee retention/turnover, promotions, transitions, exits,demographic analysis, etc.)

Manage andidentify opportunities to improve an HRIS/Employee Informationdatabase (in collaboration with the HR Manager)

Team Management

Manage anddevelop an HR Manager who is positioned as credible, proactive, andtrusted within the organization and who supports key HR operations,benefits administration, data systems, and more


In order tobe successful in this role, candidates must demonstratethe following:

You have apassionate commitment to and a sense of urgency for the support ofschools, along with a belief that all students can achieve at highlevels.

You aremotivated by working in an environment where we live out ourcore values daily. You haveexperience leading and managing HR strategies for a scaling ormid-size organization, with knowledge about employment law acrossmultiple states.

You havedeveloped and implemented HR policies, trainings, etc. with an eyefor how they advance equity and are energized by thinking beyond legal requirements whenintegrating our anti-racist standards into the HRfunction.

You are atrusted advisor who people come to with the most complex HR andpeople challenges. You are skilled at listening, learning, andcreatively finding resolutions while maintainingthe highest level of personal and professional integrity andmaintaining confidential information.

You bringexperience training and coaching others, including managers andsenior leaders, on HR practices and building strong relationshipsacross diverse leadership styles. You are experienced and confident in giving and receiving directfeedback, including having difficult conversations and modelingANet's values in all HR-related communications.

You have astrong data-orientation and experience building and managing HRplatforms and data systems that generate peopleinsights.

You have astrong eye for optimizing people processes and the ability tosuccessfully guide org-wide HR initiatives from inception toimplementation, including delegating and communicating withcross-functional stakeholders effectively.

You have atrack record of successfully directly and indirectly managingothers in HR or talent-related function to strongresults.

Idealcandidates may also demonstrate the following preferred qualifications:

You have SHRMor comparable HR certification

You bringexperience working in different HR contexts, preferably withexperience in the non-profit sector and/or in a mission-drivenorganization
