The Manager of State Initiatives will be the primary liaison for, and ensure productive organizational relationships with, the key state-level stakeholders/policy actors (governmental and non-governmental) with direct authority and/or indirect influence over education policy, functions/programs, and resource allocations. This role will be responsible for the design and execution of strategic plans intended to raise the visibility of Lexia Learning within target states. Anticipation and identification of educational challenges and opportunities is critical. We are looking for someone who has a positive can do attitude, highly motivated to learn and a creative thinker that can provide practical approaches to support a quickly changing organization. 

This is a remote, home office position that can be located anywhere in the US.

Key Responsibilities

• Collaborate with Sales and internal divisions to develop strategic plans and State Solutions approach;• Cultivate relationships with key state level stakeholders to secure meetings and presentations;• Support and act as primary conduit between Sales and external constituents;• Play an integral role in conference strategy;• Gather information on relevant policy thinking and report to Executive Leadership team;• Identify strategic alliances within target states;• Manage government relations agreements and assess performance;• Represent Lexia Learning at conference and partner events;• Assist in development of messaging and positioning;• Monthly briefs with Sales and internal teams.

All About You

• Bachelor’s Degree required. Advanced Degree in Education or Policy preferred

• Knowledge and expertise in Education policy and legislative affairs

• Minimum 10+ years’ experience in government relations/public affairs, multi state representation is preferred

• Experience and proven ability to work and thrive in a cross-functional role, with success in aligning goals and objectives, and balancing competing interests and priorities

• Proven track record of interpreting relevant insights from various resources to spot trends

• Strong organization, presentation, negotiation and interpersonal skills

• Confidence and ability to thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic team environment

• Good customer focus, attitude and excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
