Manager of Recruitment and Onboarding

Summit Public Schools is seeking a Manager of Recruitment and Onboarding who will play an integral role in achieving the vision and goals of Summit Public Schools through excellent experience for potential and current employees. The successful candidate will manage the creation of content that captures the voice of Summit teachers and home office staff to share it. The successful candidate will also lead efforts around new employee onboarding and internal communications for Summit’s teachers, school leaders and home office staff. The ideal candidate is strategic and results-oriented, excels at critical thinking, has exceptional interpersonal and recruiting skills, and a track record of customer service orientation. The candidate must be a highly motivated individual who thrives in an entrepreneurial environment and wants to positively impact the lives of students by improving K-12 public education. You will work directly with the Director of Recruitment and Selection, and closely with the Senior Director of Talent.


The Manager of Recruitment and Onboarding is responsible for planning and executing outreach and onboarding strategies for a diverse group teachers, school leaders and education professionals.

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Communicate Summit Public Schools’ mission, values, personalized learning model and vision for public education in America to potential and new Summit teachers, school leaders and home office faculty
  • Create media-rich collateral for website and social media that effectively communicates the Summit teacher experience
  • Develop and manage online social media campaigns to generate candidate applications and employee referrals
  • Represent Summit Public Schools at career fairs and other recruitment events and tracking and analyzing the effectiveness of varied recruitment-related activities in order to form best practices
  • Work with cross-functional team to create collateral for external recruitment messaging
  • Create communications and welcome materials for all new Summit teachers, school leaders and home office staff
  • Support in the design of high-quality onboarding experiences for new Summit staff
  • Manage the ongoing implementation of a comprehensive onboarding program for home office staff
  • Manage internal communications, including newsletters, internal websites and other channels
  • Support ad-hoc talent team needs

This position is based in the Bay Area, requires frequent travel throughout the Bay Area, and may require occasional travel to other regions.

  • Exceptional attention to detail
  • Superb computer skills, including Google Apps and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
  • The ability to manage multiple responsibilities simultaneously
  • Works well under deadlines and ensures timely completion
  • Ability to work with highly confidential and sensitive matters, and ability to adhere to strict standards of confidentiality
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent

Preferred Qualifications Include:

  • Bachelor's degree in Communications or Human Resources or related field
  • Previous experience in communications


  • Willingness to travel regularly in California and occasionally to other regions
  • Willingness to work evenings and weekends, as necessary
  • Meet health clearance, and pass the reference, background/criminal checks, per education code
