The Partnership team works in a hybrid capacity. This position will be based in Los Angeles, and will be a combination of working remotely, in our Downtown LA office, and at Partnership schools.

The Partnership is a non-profit, in-district partner to LA Unified, not a charter network. As an independent nonprofit organization, the Partnership serves 13,550 students across 20 LA Unified schools in Boyle Heights, South Los Angeles, and Watts. POSITION DESCRIPTION

The Partnership is seeking a full-time Manager of Data & Impact. The Manager of Data & Impact is a member of our small-but-mighty Data & Impact team, and reports to the Senior Director of Data & Impact. This position will have the opportunity to collaborate to produce reports and projects that have real-time impact on our schools, students, and staff. The Manager of Data & Impact will be responsible for building and managing org-wide data systems, and will focus their time and energy on developing and maintaining dashboards and data for students within our network, including academic, attendance, and college data. The Manager of Data & Impact works closely with team members in the organization – including school-facing staff, Partnership executive team, school administrations, counselors, and teachers – to build out reports that are accessible and able to be maintained by Partnership staff members. The Manager of Data & Impact will also work to provide in-depth and accessible analysis on key metrics to Partnership teams. This is a full-time, year-round position.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Report Creation & Maintenance (40%)

  • Develop and manage a system of reports using R to monitor key metrics for Partnership schools and network, as well as home office program teams
  • Build and maintain dashboards and data reporting for a variety of student and school level data (academic, attendance, and college)
  • Produce visualizations for key events, trainings, and reports

Co-Design Projects (30%)

  • Work with Partnership and school site staff members to build accessible and informative reports
  • Provide support and training to staff members with varied technical skills and data knowledge
  • Collaborate with team members to envision and co-create easily maintained data dashboards and systems that meet their diverse needs
  • Build the capacity of home office and school staff to understand and use data to drive decision making

Analysis & Ad Hoc Support (30%)

  • Analyze school data and Partnership organizational data, identify trends, and present results to school leaders and organizational leadership
  • Work with cross-functional teams to provide data analysis for priority Partnership initiatives, including fundraising, school reviews, accreditation visits, and school renewals
  • Collect and analyze data required for Board of Director meetings, grant reporting, media requests, and communication to external stakeholders
  • Resolve complex issues associated with cleaning large datasets
  • Provide timely responses for requests from executive, development, communications, and school site teams

REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS

  • 5+ years of strong data and project management experience with increasing responsibility and scope over time
  • Bachelor's degree required
  • Outstanding analytical ability, including comfort with statistical analyses, research methodologies, and knowledge of educational data
  • Strong command of data manipulation and analysis using R
  • Experience with visualization tools (Tableau, Looker Data Studio, or similar)
  • Knowledge of best practices required for collecting, monitoring, and visualizing data
  • Ability to build engaging data presentations and communicate effectively to a wide audience of stakeholders (e.g., executive-level groups, field-based leaders, teachers, parents, etc.)
  • Strong collaboration skills across various stakeholder groups, and the ability to develop tools and trainings to support team members with varying levels of of proficiency in data analysis and management
  • Strong communications skills, both written and verbal
  • Experience with SQL and cloud-based data management systems, preferred
  • Knowledge of the education sector, data, and nonprofit organizations, preferred

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

The starting salary range for the Manager of Data & Impact position is $78,481-$84,799. Starting salaries are dependent on experience, skills, market rates, and pay equity among current staff members. The Partnership also offers a robust benefits package including employer-paid health, dental, and vision insurance for employees and their dependents; a 403(b) retirement program with employee match and vesting; parental and sabbatical leaves; a professional development allowance; and generous paid time off.

Our goal is to ensure that pay is fair for all staff members who hold many intersectional identities – new and tenured alike. When we set salaries for new team members, we consider market rates, pay equity among staff in similar roles across the organization, skills and experiences required for the role, and organizational budget. Because of all of these factors, the majority of new team members do not begin at the top of the salary range provided.

COVID-19 VACCINATION REQUIREMENT

Partnership for LA Schools is a contractor with Los Angeles Unified School District and has implemented a Mandatory COVID-19 Vaccine Policy.
