Role Summary

The Data team is expanding and evolving to meet the growing needs of an ever increasingly data driven organization. The Data team sits at the intersection of our academics, operations, student recruitment, innovation, finance, and people teams which all have data needs to drive their goals. The Data team also serves the need to progress monitor Ednovate's key performance indicators that measure our impact across the network. In addition, we seek to expand the role of the Data team to build the capacity of our schools through data literacy and training around accessible data tools such as Google Sheets. The team is made up of three core functions: data products, systems management, and research and innovation. The Data Analytics role will bridge the gap between data engineering (working with our external providers) and data analysis. This role will report to the CEO with support from an external coach.

As a Manager of Data Analytics you'll help drive effective reporting and analysis across Ednovate. We are looking for a Manager of Data Analytics to join our team that will help build, maintain, and scale our processes to deliver well-defined, transformed, tested, documented, and code-reviewed data and reporting to help drive organizational strategy where trust in data is critical.

Responsibilities

• Develop data dashboards, reports, and analyses using SQL, Google Sheets, and Google Data Studio
• Perform user testing and be responsive to feedback to ensure data products effectively meet the needs of the users and of the organization, and model data in a way that empowers end users to answer their own questions
• Analyze data to provide reports and summaries for key stakeholders such as school leaders, teachers, Support Team leaders, students, families, and external stakeholders
• Liaise across our academics, schools, operations, student recruitment, innovation, finance, and people teams to support and prioritize critical data needs
• Train end users and build capacity to ensure high data literacy across the organization
• Partner with managed service provider (Landing Zone), who manages our data infrastructure and supports our data integrations, to ensure we are building a sustainable and scalable infrastructure that meets our short and long term data needs
• Create documentation and testing to ensure that our data sources are accurate and easily understandable
• Perform in-depth QA by diving in to various data sources to identify and resolve issues

Qualifications

All successful candidates must be a steadfast believer that all students can achieve academic excellence, regardless of background. In addition, strong candidates will have:

• Proven track record of using SQL and Google Sheets to transform raw data into actionable insights
• Experience building data visualizations, preferably in Google Data Studio
• Understanding of data warehouse architecture and modern data modeling techniques
• Experience using Dataform or dbt (strongly preferred)
• Strongly prefer candidates that are familiar with ELT workflows and the modern data stack
• Strong project management skills
• Strong and effective communication skills
• Experience with the Ed-Fi Data Standard is a plus
• Experience with Python is a plus
