The Opportunity:

In increasingly large numbers, communities across the nation are recognizing the limitations and profound inequities of the 100+ year-old, one-size-fits-all industrial design of school. The compounding crises of the past couple of years have revealed the need for reinvention toward extraordinary, equitable learning environments that enable all young people to thrive. As a result, Transcend has grown significantly and is partnering with more and more communities to support their work to redesign school.

Our strategy to support this community-driven design work involves direct support of school communities (with coaching and school design); as well as indirect work to build open-source resources and tools that any community/school can access to innovate and improve their school. This might look like creating open-source resources (like The Exchange) that allow communities to reimagine school on their own or synthesizing insights and stories that motivate decision-makers across the field. Marketing and Communications are critical if we are to pursue our mission and fulfill our vision: we have to be where our key audiences are; share compelling, relevant, and helpful content, repeatedly and at scale, across a variety of channels; and leverage data to test, learn, and adjust. Here’s where the brand-new Digital Marketing role comes in—we’re looking to significantly grow reach, engagement, and conversion!

The Manager, Digital Marketing will own and supercharge the marketing funnel (awareness, consideration, and conversion) to attract, engage, and retain dramatically more new and repeat users to our products, network/s, and offerings. Specifically, this person will:

  1. Lead and manage Transcend’s digital marketing tools and assets (website, search, social media, and digital advertising)
  2. Develop and execute integrated marketing plans for major campaigns
  3. Analyze data, develop and share insights, and recommend and implement new ways to optimize existing and future campaigns

The Manager, Digital Marketing will add much-needed expertise and horsepower to our small, thoughtful, and lighting-fast marketing and communications function – reporting into Partner, Communications Mika Rao, collaborating with multiple programmatic and data teams at Transcend, and working closely alongside both Mika Rao and Divya Mani (Partner, External Affairs). Who You Are:

You are a creative, strategic, and hands-on digital marketer, who is passionate about building a movement to reinvent school so that all young people can thrive now and into the future. You geek out on social media algorithms, search pathways, and click-through rates. You love getting the right content to the right people at the right place and time. You thrive on bringing great stories to life across different channels and communities. You’re always trying, learning, optimizing, and wondering about the role of the digital ecosystem in fulfilling missions that matter.

In this role, you will get to:

  • Lead Transcend’s social media presence and strategy
  • Maintain Transcend’s social media presence (daily posts across channels) and develop and execute social media strategies (channels and content) to engage influencers and reach new audiences
  • Develop and execute paid campaign strategies to reach new audiences and drive key strategic initiatives
  • Manage and Execute Transcend’s overall digital marketing strategy
  • Drive awareness, consideration, and conversion through multi-channel marketing campaigns (content, social, community engagement, paid, SEO/SEM, retargeting, etc.)
  • Leveraging analytics developed by the data team, share weekly reports to campaign leaders and other stakeholders at Transcend on campaign status and progress
  • Establish and maintain scalable processes that ensure best practices in campaign and lead management
  • Set and manage ambitious, meaningful targets across channels to better understand our reach, engagement, and impact and routinely adjust tactics and investment levels to grow our reach and impact.
  • Partner closely with the team to leverage owned and earned stories and assets and ensure seamless integration across MarComms messaging and strategy
  • Generate new leads for the Transcend Design Community, Transcend newsletters, and Transcend knowledge resources through a variety of digital marketing tactics
  • Adhere to and champion Transcend brand guidelines and ensure compelling look and feel of all Transcend collateral and marketing touchpoints
  • Ensure effective segmentation, targeting, and outreach for key stakeholder audiences
  • Working with colleagues across the organization, support user research on core MarComms audience (school and system leaders)
  • Coordinate and track online (e.g., newsletter, paid, social) and offline (e.g., conferences) marketing to key stakeholders, including school leaders, school superintendents and their teams, funders, policy influencers, and researchers
  • Ensure opt-in compliance and accurate list building for email marketing
  • Amplify micro and scaled influencer content to reach key audiences
  • Support analytics, development, maintenance, and engagement
  • Partner with the webteam to oversee ongoing website development and maintenance (including landing pages / dedicated sites for specific campaigns or initiatives) to ensure key brand assets (videos, resources, blogs) are updated, accurate, and actionable
  • Utilize SEO and analytic tools to optimize website content and identify the paths that drive search traffic to website and resources (in partnership with paid Google search consultant)
  • Work with the data team to ensure appropriate web tracking and reporting tools are in place; analyze data and produce recommendations based on insights
  • Own paid marketing and advertising strategy, budget, and execution, including building campaigns and audiences, optimizing, and making daily adjustments as necessary
  • Collaborate with external partners as needed to develop strategic support plans tied to paid digital advertising

And in doing so, leverage your:

  • Commitment to Transcend’s mission of transforming education, with a passion for creating innovative school models that generate unprecedented results for all students. Previous experience working in the education sector a plus!
  • Knowledge, skills, and proven track record in compelling and effective digital and integrated marketing (anticipate this is 5-7+ years in the field; open to anyone who demonstrates skills needed for this role)
  • Strong self-organization and project management skills
  • “No job too small” orientation, willing to take on big picture strategy as well as day-to-day implementation
  • Knowledge of marketing automation, email marketing, and analytics (including Google Analytics and the campaign arms of our social media platforms)
  • Strong and demonstrated commitment to advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion
  • Skillful relationship-building and communication skills, working with a diverse range of stakeholders, including Transcend teammates, external partners, independent contractors/vendors, etc
  • Eagerness to live into Transcend’s core values and support others to do the same
