Manager, Account Management

IXL Learning - Raleigh, North Carolina - Full time

IXL Learning, a leading edtech company with products used by 14 million students worldwide, is seeking a Manager, Account Management to join our growing team in Raleigh, NC. The Manager is responsible for managing a team of 8+ Account Managers to exceed goals via renewal, upsell, customer retention and engagement activities and is a key member of the Account Management Organization Leadership team.

Successful candidates in this role blend their knowledge of IXL processes and systems; deep understanding of our customer base; and expertise navigating challenging situations to coach and manage their assigned teams to achieve goals and grow competencies.

*This is a full time position in our Raleigh, NC office with a hybrid work schedule.*


  • Lead, manage and motivate a team of high-performing Account Managers.
  • Oversee/drive team best practices by sharing knowledge and skills to impact effective territory management; modeling exemplary written and oral customer communication; continuously improve resources on behalf of the Account Management team
  • Assist in onboarding process for new Account Managers and Leads, including training, shadowing and mentorship.
  • Impact revenue and retention rates
  • Exceed personal and team revenue and retention goals in assigned territory.
  • Monitor revenue and retention rates to proactively discern patterns and trends and elevate to senior management.
  • Ensure renewal cadence and best practices are adhered to across the team, but use judgment regarding territories that require a different approach.
  • Be a trusted partner to new business, with the mindset that a healthy territory is what gets us to the goal of 1:2 students by 2025.
  • Be a Leader
  • As part of the leadership team, proactively identify areas for improvement to workflow, processes and ideas and coordinate implementation across the organization.
  • Support individuals’ professional growth and develop business acumen.
  • Play a key role in developing and driving effective renewal campaigns and tactics
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key team members across account services, sales and sales management, PLS, marketing and account management to facilitate collaboration, sharing best practices and improving cross-team efficiencies.
  • Provide territory coverage as-needed in open territories


  • 5 - 10+ years experience in account management
  • 3 years in a management/leadership role
  • Proven ability to take on additional projects and model leadership
  • Track record of proactively identifying areas for improvement and sharing strategies and ideas with manager and team
  • Ability to constructively deliver and receive constructive feedback
  • Demonstrated performance of consistently meeting or exceeding revenue / retention goals, with an understanding of value drivers in achieving successful renewal conversion.
