Learning Experience Designer


Under general supervision of the Director of the Digital Learning Department at the Paul Merage School of Business, the Learning Experience (LX) Designer serves as an innovative resource to business school faculty in their efforts to design and develop captivatingly rich, learner-centric courses. The incumbent is proficient in merging design-thinking principles with technology inspired course development strategies to guide faculty in adapting course content and activities to digital learning behaviors and preferences. The LX Designer will partner closely with faculty and/or subject matter experts to conceptualize, plan, design, and develop content that cultivates engagement, uses technology to foster connections, and promotes active learning experiences. The LX Designer is well-versed in graphic design, eLearning multimedia production, research-based learning principles, and pertinent learning technology tools. In addition, the incumbent possesses expertise and knowledge on various pedagogical approaches and best practices for digital course delivery in a business school context while also showcasing competency in project management, course quality assurance, and learning management system (LMS) user interface design.

Salary: Annual $67,109.00 - $93,449.00

Total Hours: 8-5, M-F

Career Position.


Degree or degree in-progress in a related field or equivalent work experience with three or more years of professional experience in digital course design and implementation, instructional design and higher education.

Understanding of business school curriculum such as accounting, finance, economics, strategy, management information systems, decision sciences, marketing, and organizational behavior.

Thorough knowledge of a variety of learning technology tools to support digital teaching and learning, as well as instructional design principles and pedagogical strategies for technology-enhanced instruction for face-to-face, hybrid and/or online delivery.

Functional knowledge with learning management systems, Canvas LMS preferred.

Functional knowledge with web conferencing, lecture capture, learning technologies and eLearning authoring tools.

Working knowledge with the Adobe Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, In Design).

Thorough knowledge with best practices in eLearning multimedia production.

Demonstrated knowledge of quality online course frameworks, learning data analysis/metrics reporting.

Strong written and oral communication, consultation, team collaboration, customer services, problem-solving, and project management skills.

Demonstrated expertise with end-user support and troubleshooting for varies resolutions for both complex pedagogical and technical use-cases.

Demonstrated expertise in project management with the ability to move projects with many stakeholders forward in a timely manner.

Familiar with the usability and accessibility guidelines and best practices in instructional design.

Understanding of FERPA and copyright guidelines for the classroom (i.e., Fair Use, the TEACH Act, etc.).
