Day in the Life

HMH is looking for an experienced Learning Architect, Math (Editor, Math) to contribute to the development of digital and print student and teacher content for math intervention and supplemental programs. You will work with cutting edge learning platforms and create content for the premiere K-12 math intervention program. Being a part of the HMH Supplemental and Intervention Solutions team means the work you do will impact a diverse range of learners and help change the trajectory of students’ lives. You will also be providing teachers with high quality and dynamic products that improve the teaching and learning process.

In this rewarding and exciting role, you will contribute to the instructional design, product development (prototype design), and production of math technology and print program components from concept to fulfillment. You will use your expertise in K-12 math instruction, Universal Design for Learning Principles, and Multi-Tiered Systems of Support to help develop program prototypes, manuscript, and technology content backed by research, best practices and program pedagogy. You will support and contribute to content creation efforts for intervention and supplemental math programs such as student and teacher content and assessments with a variety of teams such as in-house and out-of-house writers, designers, advisors, developers, user experience, learning sciences, and product management to ensure that content aligns with our mission.

What You Need to be Successful

  • Minimum 1 year experience in educational publishing experience; experience developing learning solutions of the K-12 math market
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience developing interactive instructional and/or assessment material for elementary and/or secondary students, or comparable teaching experience
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in education or relevant experience
  • Solid understanding of math curriculum, pedagogy, and best practices
  • Strong editing and writing skills, including grammar and composition skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Must be a strong collaborator across diverse groups

Nice to Have

  • Master's degree
  • K-12 teaching experience
  • Experience working in a K–12 (primary or secondary) education setting
  • Experience and comfort level working with metadata
  • Familiarity with Agile methodology

Physical Requirements

  • Might be in a stationary position for a considerable time (sitting and/or standing) for 4+ hours.
  • The person in this position needs to move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.
  • Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer.
  • Must be able to collaborate with colleagues via face to face, conference calls, and online meetings.
  • Must be able to travel up to 10% of the time.
