Position Type: Full-time

Shift/Hours: Weekdays with occasional evening or weekend hours

Reports to:  Director of Organizational Quality

SUMMARY: 

The Learning and Development Specialist supports staff and other stakeholder development by assessing, coordinating, and facilitating opportunities for learning including training and development programs. The L&D Specialist also ensures Anixter Center staff and other stakeholders remain compliant with all required training rules and regulations by maintaining systems and structures for them to remain compliant.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

Coordination:

Organizes, plans, and presents various forms of skills training for staff and other stakeholders needed to maintain or improve job skills.

Facilitates delivery of training by reserving and setting up needed audiovisual equipment and training rooms; scheduling training times with attendees; preparing and distributing training aids such as handouts; and performing other related tasks.

Creates and/or acquires training procedure manuals, guides, and course materials.

Collaborates with Human Resources to deliver new employee orientation and onboarding.

Collaborate with various internal departments to assess training needs and areas of expertise for intra-agency training development.

Collaborates with outside consultants and training providers to deliver training.

Administers, scores, and logs results of qualification, learning assessment, and retention tests; arranges retraining or other appropriate action for insufficient scores.

Compliance and Assessment:

Maintains records of training and development activities, attendance, results of tests and assessments, and retraining requirements.

Assesses training and development needs through surveys, interviews, focus groups, and communication with leadership, managers, trainers, staff, and other stakeholders.

Assesses training materials prepared by instructors.

Evaluates and modifies existing or proposed programs through assessments, surveys, and feedback; suggests and implements suitable changes.

Operations:

Oversees billing and/reimbursement processes for all training funders and customers, including the Department of Human Services.

Markets training to appropriate audiences.

Maintains knowledge of the latest trends and best practices in training and development. 

Maintains records and reports of related expenses.

Serves as the administrator for the learning management system.

Serves as the coordinator, trainer, and/or instructor of record for various mandated training and regulatory bodies.

Performs other related duties as required.

REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Training and Development, or a related field required.

At least two years of training experience required.

Supervisory experience preferred.

Ability to promote and adhere to organizational values.

Advanced presentation and facilitation skills.

Adept with a variety of multimedia training platforms and methods. Experience with Relias Learning preferred.

Ability to evaluate and research training options and alternatives.

Ability to design and implement effective training and development.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and other related program software.

Excellent interpersonal skills.

Ability to adapt to the needs of the organization and employees.

Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate.
