UNDERSTANDING THE ROLE

Our Chicago office is seeking a Learning & Development Associate. This is a new position with many opportunities for growth. As the Learning & Development Associate, you will work as an important member of CCS’s ~15-person Strategy & Operations team within the Talent Development function. You will be critical in supporting our goal to ensure we are the best home for a diverse group of fundraising professionals. You will plan, develop, implement, and administer training and professional development programs for both new and tenured team members.

In close partnership with the team’s senior leaders, you will help to lead and facilitate regional initiatives while acting as a liaison to the corporate Human Resources department and their Learning and Employee Development team. In particular, you will work closely with and learn from their new Director of Professional Development who oversees the firm-wide learning program strategy and learning curriculum development. This position does not oversee any direct reports, but will interface with various internal and external audiences. The Learning & Development Associate will be required to stay current on CCS services, methodologies, client partners, business initiatives, and resources.

RESPONSIBILITIES

NEW HIRE ONBOARDING & TRAINING

Serve as one of the key points of contact for all new employees on the Central United States team (typically around 2-4 new hires per month) by overseeing and facilitating their onboarding and orientation process for their first two weeks

Support in the assessment and enhancement of our existing new hire onboarding process and programs

CONTINUED PROFESSIONAL LEARNING & DEVELOPMENT

Support in the evaluation and optimization of our current team-wide learning program for all levels of employees, including refining existing professional development initiatives as well as piloting and launching new programs

Collaborate on the development of a plan to help coordinate and stream line the many existing team-wide professional development resources, tools, and communications

Produce training materials related to various CCS sectors, service lines, and other learning needs

Support the team’s annual focal reviews and help to build systems that make team involvement and performance easier to access for senior leaders

ADDITIONAL TEAM SUPPORT

Track learning and development metrics to understand which strategies are successful

Adopt active use of our learning management system to track attendance and compliance

Periodically support the development of custom learning modules and workshops for a small number of client partners

Work with senior leadership at the corporate-level to align team goals with firm-wide professional development, training, and collaboration initiatives

Ensure a focus on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion in all aspects of our learning and professional development programs and resources

QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor’s degree in a related field

2-3 or more years of related work experience, preferably in a professional services firm and/ or fundraising/ philanthropy

Experience with curriculum development or training programs a plus

Self-starter able to drive activity in a fast-paced environment

Naturally curious person and have a passion for uplifting others

Experience establishing and maintaining relationships with individuals at all levels

Superior written and oral communication skills

Outstanding organizational skills and the ability to balance and prioritize competing responsibilities

Working knowledge of the nonprofit sector a plus

This role is full-time. Please note that the operational functions of the firm are currently operating remotely. Plans related to a hybrid return to the Chicago office are evolving, but candidates may be based anywhere within the Midwest (although a Chicago home base is preferred). Candidates should expect working hours will be on Central time. Must be willing to travel domestically on occasion.
