Lead Software Developer

InnovateEDU - Brooklyn, New York or Remote - Full time

About the Project

The Ed-Fi Alliance has produced a data standard and technology stack that allows us to connect our previously siloed, disconnected educational data systems. InnovateEDU strives to create real tooling and projects that greatly assist a district in moving toward embracing a data standard and interoperability. This means simplifying the process a district must go through to implement an Ed-Fi ODS, connecting Ed-Fi certified data sources, and consuming non Ed-Fi certified data once has been aligned to the standard.

Who You Are

You believe that districts should not be struggling to gain access to their data and bring it all together in one central place. You've worked with the Ed-Fi data standard and technology stack in some form and believe in its ability to move the sector toward a world that embraces interoperability. You have experience with the Ed-Fi codebase, .NET, and C# enabling you to be able to modify as needed, build extensions, and deploy to production. You are an optimistic, problem-solver because you know the landscape of data in education can be complicated, but that together we can create real solutions that help the entire sector move forward. You are open to feedback, bring your best ever day, and are ready to grow in all areas of your work. You are a tech ninja and embrace a solutions orientation to when you encounter a problem. You want to join a team of folks who share your vision for mission-driven work at the intersection of education and technology. Finally, you know that sharing often is key to this work and are ready to document everything that you do so that data people in schools everywhere can benefit.

Experience and Skills

The ideal candidate will have experience in some or all of the following areas:

  • Strong computer science and software engineering background
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and with teams
  • Experience working with the Ed-Fi data standard, and its ODS and APIs
  • Experience working with restful APIs
  • Experience working with .NET, C#, Python and SQL
  • Experience working with Airflow
  • Experience writing tests
  • Experience within K12 education a plus
