KIPP Teacher Resident

ACE Charter Schools - Multiple Locations - Full time

Do you want to close the achievement gap? Do you want to make a difference for students in the Bay Area? Do you want to earn your CA Teaching Credential and Master’s degree in one year?

This is an innovative and affordable pathway to a full-time teaching career in our community. The residency is an exciting opportunity to earn your Master’s Degree and Teaching Credential in any core subjects, grades K-12, in just one year.

You will be joining a supportive, mentoring-based program with an emphasis on social justice and equity through the Alder Graduate School of Education in partnership with the Nation’s largest chart network. After the year of residency, graduates receive priority hiring as KIPP teachers.


-Earning your Master’s Degree and Teaching Credential in one year

-Apprenticing 4-5 days a week with one of our most expert teachers as your example.

-Engaging in critical conversations about diversity, equity, and inclusion with your mentor, instructors, and peers.

-Receiving priority hiring for a full-time teaching position upon completing the program in the hosting organization.

-Doing all of this at a cost that is affordable and with financial support.


$18.5K for Class of 2020 (Stipend provided, see below)

(final tuition set in Dec. 2019 for the class of 2021)


-Amazing, high quality supportive 1:1 coaching, and hands on experience

-$20,000 stipend to offset cost of tuition (*note- this is not a salary, as residents are not employees of the school)

-Up to $40,000 in federal financial aid/loans

-Master's Degree and Credential

-Priority hiring for a full-time position at the school of residency

-Laptop and Cell Phone provided by school

Requirements / Qualifications


-Bachelor’s degree completed by the end of June 2020

-A grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 preferred

-Eligible to work in the United States

K-12 Partner is looking for qualified applicants in the following areas:

  • Special Education K-8
  • Special Education 9-12
  • Single Subject Math
  • Multiple Subject (all Elementary) grades
  • Single Subject Science
  • Single Subject History/Social Studies
  • Bilingual Educators/ Spanish Language
