KIPP Oklahoma City (KIPP OKC) and KIPP Tulsa have taken their first steps to merge, forming KIPP Oklahoma (KIPP OK). Starting in July 2022, KIPP OK will be a network of 4 high-performing, college-preparatory public charter schools providing an academically rigorous and joyous school experience to more than 1,000+ students in grades 4 through 12 across OKC and Tulsa. Additionally, KIPP OK will support alumni on their journey to and through high school, college, and career.

KIPP OKC College Prep was founded in 2002. Since then, it has flourished into one of Oklahoma's top academic performing schools. KIPP OKC College Prep educates children in grades 4th - 8th and specializes in high-rigor academics focusing on social-emotional learning.

Founded in 2005, KIPP Tulsa started with a single class of fifth graders. Today, KIPP Tulsa Public Charter Schools offers a continuous college-prep education for students from 5th through 12th grade.

The inaugural Chief of Staff (CoS) will be a relationship-oriented organizational leader and problem-solver to serve as a culture champion and effective cross-functional team manager. The CoS will be a thought partner and support to the ED and newly formed regional executive team and board.

As the first CoS, this person will have the unique opportunity to streamline and build new structures that will contribute to the overall impact of KIPP OK. The CoS will hold internal and external responsibilities that further KIPP OK’s commitment to students, families, teachers, and staff.

In addition to traditional CoS responsibilities, CoS will oversee three separate organizational functions, including Talent, External Affairs, and KIPP Forward (alumni programs). The CoS will directly manage, develop, and work alongside team members responsible for talent, human resources, fundraising, marketing, advocacy, and KIPP Forward alumni services.


Drive Fundraising Strategy Development, Execution, and Accountability:

  • Oversee the implementation of a fund development operation that drives donor cultivation, solicitations, and stewardship for a breadth of individual, institutional and corporate donors
  • Support the Executive Director in fundraising $2M+ to support KIPP Oklahoma’s daily operations
  • Partner with the Executive Director, Chief Academic Officer, and Chief Operating Officer to determine revenue goals that align with annual budgetary needs

Provide Oversight to Human Resources and Talent:

  • Achieve KIPP OK’s goal to recruit, develop, manage, support, and retain a diverse, high-performing staff that fulfills KIPP Oklahoma’s values and beliefs
  • Support the Manager, Talent Development (role currently vacant) in the supervision of HR staff, policies, and practices.

Support the Vision and Direction for KIPP Forward:

  • Support and manage four KIPP Forward staff, ensuring there is a clear vision for KIPPsters to achieve their goals and life outcomes through attending college or other high-quality pathways to a successful career
  • Align KIPP Forward to national standard practices grounded in equity, opportunity, student-centered
  • Support the development and execution of a statewide alumni strategy that deepens connections with graduates and promote persistence in whatever path they choose

Enhance Regional and ED Effectiveness:

  • Lead strategic initiatives and special projects as determined by the ED that are critical to KIPP Oklahoma’s long-term success, including resource development forecasting
  • Serve as a critical thought partner, collaborator, and organizer to the ED, Executive Leadership Team, School Leaders, and Board of Directors
  • Represent the ED internally and externally, serving as a proxy as needed

Serve as a Critical Steward of the KIPP Oklahoma’s Board of Directors:

  • Under the guidance of the ED, develop and maintain a strong, engaged, and active Board, including planning board meetings and producing Board materials, and engaging in Board cultivation
  • Serve as a critical point of contact for all Board of Directors to communicate regional
  • updates, including drafting and editing critical memos

Provide Local and Network Leadership:

  • Participate in and contribute to the KIPP national and local charter network of talent, strategy, and leadership staff, accessing and sharing learning and support with peers in other organizations.


  • Support the ED in building and implementing best practice systems for founding a high-performing state-wide leadership team and board
  • Partner with the ED to build a robust statewide development plan to hit fundraising goals by leveraging relationships across Oklahoma City and Tulsa
  • Develop a system-wide infrastructure for the hiring and onboarding of teachers and school leaders
  • Ensure KIPP OK is embracing and implementing diversity, equity, and inclusion processes throughout its core functions


  • 8+ years of progressive work experience with three or more years of relationship building, stakeholder management, and project management experience at an organizational level
  • Bachelor’s degree required & advanced degree preferred
  • Demonstrated leadership in organizational planning and execution with the ability to create a vision, develop a plan, marshal resources, and execute on objectives utilizing a proactive and entrepreneurial mindset
  • Excellent relationship builder with demonstrated experience managing diverse stakeholders, leading and managing change, and promoting strong collaboration across teams in service of the relentless pursuit of improvement and driving results through collective achievement
  • Prior experience exhibiting exceptional use of judgment, as well as strategic thinking and analytical skills to solve complex problems and implement solutions
  • Record of results managing both the big picture and the details
  • Experience navigating complex funding, legal, political, and community issues, including building and nurturing an inspiring and affirming culture within and across teams
  • A hands-on approach to administrative functions and experience creating and implementing top-notch systems, operations, and processes
  • Ability to be flexible, multi-task, and adapt to changing priorities
  • Experience as a people manager who can motivate, mentor, and build a high-performing team

The starting salary for this position is $113k and may be negotiated depending upon experience. Employee benefits include medical, dental, and a paid time-off package.
