As the Executive Recruiter, you will partner with KIPP regions to lead effective and equitable end-to-end executive searches for senior executive vacancies across the KIPP network. On the Network Talent Team, we believe that having the right regional leaders is key to our regions creating joyful, academically excellent schools that prepare students to lead fulfilling lives and build a more just world. In this role, you will have a direct impact on this strategy by identifying the next generation of effective, anti-racist leaders at KIPP. The ideal candidate will be dedicated to racial and educational equity and understand the positive impact of having leaders who understand and share the lived experiences of our KIPPsters.


Key Responsibilities of the Executive Recruiter include:

Executive Recruitment and Selection

This role will require the maintenance of a portfolio of up to 3 simultaneous searches across a variety of C-level, regional roles and close at least 6 searches annually; while providing end-to-end project management for all searches, including developing and maintaining customized search project plans that include key milestones, strategies, and transparent roles and responsibilities for key stakeholders. This person will be expected to generate a diverse and high-quality pool of prospects by conducting research to map talent markets and implementing creative sourcing strategies, including, but not limited to, online talent resources, networking, cold-calling, and referrals. Lead high-quality cultivation calls or other cultivation activities with active and passive prospects that garner insight into the candidate’s motivations, barriers, and skillsets while also sharing a compelling and customized value proposition.

Refine and Systematize Executive Recruitment Processes & Tools

The Executive Recruiter will Identify annual goals and key performance indicators that will be tracked throughout the year to assess the progress and impact of the executive recruitment function. Refine and codify executive recruitment tools and systems (e.g. interview guides, competency maps, role profiles, etc.) to support greater efficiency and consistent quality/experience across searches. Develop and maintain a C-level candidate tracking and sourcing system that documents key candidate information (e.g. engagement, quality, future potential, etc.)

Influencing the Adoption of Equitable and Effective Talent Practices

This person will advise and influence key regional clients in implementing effective and equitable search processes while leverage opportunities for collaboration, alignment, and advisement in executive searches that are led by regions.The executive recruiter will be expected to support regions in identifying the best internal or external partners to support their executive search needs aiming to build and cultivate meaningful and strategic partnerships with potential pipelines of diverse, C-level talent.


A successful first year in this role for the new Executive Recruiter will include:

  • Serve as the primary recruiter for a variety of regional executive-level vacancies across the network, leading all steps of the process including candidate cultivation, selection, and matriculation.
  • Implement effective project management that will enable you to run up to 3 simultaneous searches and close at least 6 executive, c-suite searches annually.
  • Ensure KIPP Foundation and regional stakeholders understand and are engaged and invested in the executive search process through thoughtful relationship building and stakeholder management.
  • Continuously refine and improve the executive search function at the KIPP Foundation to ensure strategies, processes, and tools are supporting our desired outcome of efficient searches that identify effective, antiracist leaders.
  • Support shared Network Talent Team and broader KIPP Foundation strategies through collaboration and consultation.


In order to fulfill these responsibilities, the ideal Executive Recruiter candidate will be:

  • At least 5 years of recruitment & selection experience
  • Demonstrated track record of successfully leading full-cycle recruitment with executive or senior level roles
  • Passion for KIPP’s mission and values.
  • Deep commitment to racial and education equity; supports the building of an organization that reflects the community KIPP serves; holds self and others accountable to centering equity
  • Experience managing multiple projects/searches with success completing tasks on time and in full
  • Demonstrated ability to influence and advise a diverse group of stakeholders
  • Ability to define big picture strategy for recruitment and selection processes and codify tools and resources
  • Manages ambiguity well; can decide and act without the total picture, remain calm and productive through uncertainty, and deal constructively with problems that do not have clear solutions or outcomes
  • Experience in the education or non-profit sector highly preferred
  • Willingness to travel 20% of the time
