KIPP Colorado seeks a Director of People to guide all KIPP Colorado staff through the entirety of the employee life cycle to ensure they can best support their students.


Core responsibilities of the Director of People include:

  • Human capital strategy and planning. Own development of the annual and long-term KIPP Colorado strategies and tactics that include organizational talent and total benefits philosophy and considers the entire employee life cycle.
  • Staff retention. Oversee process for retaining 85% of KIPP Colorado staff members year-over-year.
  • Strong people manager. Support and grow KIPP Colorado’s people managers to navigate adaptive leadership challenges.
  • Career progression planning and professional learning. Map career paths and succession plans for all roles in KIPP Colorado and support Head of Schools in developing professional learning for KIPP Colorado staff members.
  • Performance management. Build and maintain a normed and high-quality performance management system for all KIPP Colorado staff members.
  • Team management. Manage the People team to the human resources and recruitment scorecard and annual plan outcomes.


In order to fulfill these responsibilities, the ideal Director of People candidate will be:

  • An experienced human capital professional with 6+ years of experience at a school district/network or youth-serving organization.
  • A culturally-competent and self-reflective leader, someone who is comfortable and confident navigating issues of identity, power, and privilege.
  • A leader who maintains a strong growth mindset and desire to learn and grow as a professional.
  • An individual who is relationship-driven, enjoys building authentic connections with others and demonstrates superior interpersonal skills.
  • Detail-oriented and data-driven, someone who can balance strong project management skills with the ability to see big-picture trends and recommend process improvements when needed.
  • A mission-aligned individual who internalizes, champions and embraces accountability for KIPP Colorado’s values of team and family, zest, and excellence.
  • A college graduate with a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
