Role Overview

MissionU is a highly selective, debt-free, one-year alternative to the bachelor's degree. MissionU partners with industry leaders to train graduates for success in high-skill knowledge economy jobs. The curriculum has been designed with guidance from experts at top universities and leading companies, with its first class launching in September.

The MissionU Instructor Fellowships are part-time instructional roles reserved for passionate educators with deep experience working at the intersection of top companies and innovative education institutions. The expected commitment is 8-10 hours per week for a full trimester (ending in December 2017), with the option to renew for future trimesters.

The role will work closely with our Chief Product Officer and the Curriculum Managers. Fellows can work remotely, but will need to be available for seminars that occur between 9am and 3pm PT on weekdays. The role can begin immediately.

Key Responsibilities

  • Instruct and manage the course for all MissionU students in technical subjects, conducting seminars with extensive student-teacher interaction
  • Manage the MissionU Fellows (teaching assistants)
  • Assess student performance and proactively identify where remedial support is needed
  • Continue to refine the curriculum in technical subjects (alongside the MissionU curriculum team) based on student and partner feedback
  • Contribute to MissionU’s evolving platform by providing feedback for Product team

Key Qualities to Succeed

  • Excellent teaching capability and experience, including a proven track record of being able to lead discussion and motivate students to participate
  • Strong organizational skills, including the ability to manage others
  • Robust knowledge of Excel and statistics; SQL and Python are a plus (but not required)
  • Real-life experience using the above skills/concepts in the workplace
  • Self-motivated and able to proactively lead work with minimal oversight
  • Passion for new learning methods and higher education innovation
