Instructional Technologist

Core Duties

  • Builds online learning experiences in various learning management platforms; primarily learning experiences requiring web design or web development skills in the platforms.
  • Works closely with members of the Instructional Development team to meet project needs, including offering suggestions on improved uses of technology to meet pedagogical needs. Develops and implements workarounds within learning platforms when appropriate.
  • Develops and implements alternative solutions within learning platforms when appropriate.
  • Provides day-to-day support for tools developed in-house.
  • Designs and delivers hands-on technical training and workshops about building in the learning platforms and technology tools for the Instructional Design team and temporary content developers focused on course build and beta testing.
  • Assigns oversees and prioritizes projects for contingent staff and outside vendors who help with course build and quality assurance, including vetting video transcriptions.
  • Creates simple media assets for online courses.
  • Establishes processes and documentation for best practices for building courseware, using in-house products, and online services.
  • Consults with the Instructional Development, Production, Technical Operations, and Program Operations groups on accessibility standards and best practices.
  • Other related duties as assigned.

Basic Qualifications:

Candidates MUST meet the following basic qualifications in order to be considered for this role:

  • Minimum of 3 years related instructional technology or teaching experience including use of HTML
