Instructional Designer

The Instructional Designer will help GGU faculty design and develop online courses under strict deadlines. Design, develop and deliver in-person/online training with supporting materials. Advise faculty on pedagogical and technological techniques to create and conduct high quality courses. Demonstrate professionalism, enthusiasm, and superior customer service. 

Essential Functions: 

Work with faculty to develop online, hybrid or web-enhanced in-person courses. Create engaging learning activities and course content. Train faculty in web-based course design concepts and applications. Manage deployment of multiple courses. Develop and deliver webinar and workshop training to faculty. Manage and/or support special projects to improve service to students and faculty. Research trends in technology and online education. Work with a development team to research and improve delivery methods and operations. Build and maintain relationships within a diverse and dynamic university community. Quickly learn and apply new technologies. 

Qualifications, Education & Experience:

Essential Qualifications:

Technical skills: HTML, Microsoft Word and PowerPoint, Windows, web conferencing environments, Adobe Photoshop or Fireworks

Professional skills: Instructional Design methods, adult learning theory, project management, stand-up training, and teaching techniques 

Able to: Participate in a team-oriented environment; effectively manage time and multiple tasks; communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing; develop print-based training materials; analyze problems, identify solutions, and implement recommendations

Helpful to know: Learning Management Systems, MS Access, Adobe Captivate or other eLearning authoring tools, digital video and audio. 

Education and Experience: Master's degree in Instructional Design or Educational Technology or a suitable substitute is required. Two years instructional design experience, preferably in Web-based learning, applying adult learning theories, is required. One year project management experience and one year training or teaching experience, or demonstration of equivalent skills, is preferred. Experience in the higher-education environment a plus.
