Instructional Designer

eLumen is looking for an Instructional Designer (ID) to join our Minneapolis office. The ideal candidate has strong ID experience in a collaborative team environment delivering training to a variety of audiences in a variety of modalities. In this role, you will collaborate with the Customer Development team to help set the instructional design direction and create training content for our internal staff, partners, and customer base.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Be extremely passionate about learning the Higher Education Technology domain.
  • Facilitate learning project meetings, scopes requirements, developing project plans, and communicating project status. Accountable for supporting the management of the training development schedule, and work quality within respective projects. Lead end to end creation of training including design/development of content, assisting with business partner reviews, evaluation, and measurement.
  • Learning design strategy. Makes recommendations for new best practices and standards to be applied across the team while providing coaching, training, and mentoring for team members.. Skilled in selecting and aligning delivery options and media for training and/or learning events to the desired learning or behavioral outcomes.
  • Content design and development. Work with subject matter experts to craft storyboard and develop instructor-led, e-learning, video, blended, and other content. Ensure that instructional design principles and industry standards and specifications are adhered to in all phases of design. Maintain existing content with an eye toward continuous improvement while adhering to archival, maintenance and service level agreements.
  • Be a self-organized “bird-dog” who hunts down knowledge when knowledge gaps are found.
  • Collaborate with eLumen’s Customer Development and Sales teams to ensure client-user representation in the training development process.
  • Facilitate meetings to gather, socialize, and refine training solutions
  • Communicate broadly across the organization, both verbally and through diagrams, flowcharts, layouts, and charts
  • Work within an Agile, continuous deployment development environment
  • Provide aid and support to other departments in the use of software

Required Qualifications:

  • 5+ years experience in Instruction Design for ILT, vILT, and eLearning
  • Experience with the Canvas LMS
  • Experience in education technology/higher education
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite tools, especially Illustrator and Audition, as well as Camtasia
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and creative solutioning skills
  • Strong communication, both written and verbal
  • Able to function and succeed in an agile software development environment.
  • Experience researching training needs as well as developing online training in the Canvas LMS.
  • Open to occasional domestic travel.
  • US Citizenship

Desired Qualifications:

  • Portfolio demonstrating mastery of instructional design skills and breadth of experience
  • Bachelor's degree and/or equivalent work experience and certificates in instructional design, organizational development, education, communication or related field preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and manage instructional design projects
  • Strong design skills with a highly-developed sense of aesthetics
  • Proficient use of Microsoft Office
  • Project management experience
