The Instructional Designer is responsible for designing compelling e-learning courses for Curriculum Developers for middle school and high school students. The Instructional Designer uses their knowledge of instructional design, as well as text, audio, images, animation, and video to develop engaging content in LMS programs such as Canvas. The Instructional Designer also provides editing, and LMS management services to the Curriculum Department in order to advance school-wide goals.

Essential Functions include, but are not limited to the following:*

  • Collaborate with Curriculum Developers to determine appropriate media and methods for achieving learning goals.
  • Provide instructional design leadership, training, and assistance to Curriculum Developers
  • Creates engaging media from the Curriculum Developers’ content
  • Helps build and construct assessments, templates, style guides, and lessons in an LMS
  • Applies research based strategies, learning theory and practices
  • Maintains organized tracking about progress of projects in a timely and accurate manner to Lead Curriculum Developer
  • Assists in completion of special, ongoing, and long-term projects
  • Other duties as needed or assigned by Lead Curriculum Developer

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

  • A minimum of two years’ experience with content management, instructional design, curriculum development, and instructional technologies
  • Proficiency with graphic design (Adobe Creative Suite)
  • Branding, infographic and typographic skills
  • Video and audio editing
  • Working knowledge of hardware tools for designing (bamboo tablet, scanners, cameras etc.)
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and coordinate multiple tasks simultaneously with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to exercise reasonable judgment and maintain confidentiality.
  • Solution-oriented team member

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Preferred:

  • 2-3 years’ experience with front end development (CSS, PHP, Java, HTML)

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in web, graphic, and animation design.
