Instructional Designer

Children's Montessori Systems - Ellicott City, Maryland - Full time

Children's Montessori Systems is a family-owned education company operating multiple school locations with programs ranging from early childhood to high school.

We have grown to 10 locations across Maryland and are seeking an Instructional Designer/Technologist who will work directly with the academic leadership team to create learning solutions for both in-person and virtual settings. This is a great opportunity for an educator who wishes to be at the intersection of education + technology and wants to help transform early childhood education.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work with Instructional Leadership Team and teachers to identify what students need to learn; analyze/improve existing instructional materials
  • Develop objectives and align content, activities, and assessments to the objectives
  • Revise and rewrite content to shape it for learning needs
  • Structure content, activities and assessments to maximize student learning
  • Create media to support learning (visual aids, infographics, interactive exercises, animation, job aids)
  • Transform instructional materials created for one format to another format for example adapting to an e-learning environment.
  • Use technology tools to enhance curriculum and learning
  • Develop and design online learning material.
  • Oversee implementation of virtual programs
  • Train and support educators and students including troubleshooting technical problems

Things that should be in our background:

  • Master's degree in education, instructional design or related field
  • 2+ years of related experience
  • Experience in K-12 and/or early childhood programming such as Montessori.
  • Proficiency in learning technology tools, learning software, online platforms, video editing etc.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Understanding of varied learning styles
  • Knowledge of assessment and evaluation methods
