We're a rapidly growing Boston company that recently completed the Techstars Boston Accelerator, and we're a venture-backed company looking to create value in the world.

We are looking for a professional Instructional Designer/eLearning Developer to design and develop high-quality learning opportunities for caregivers.

The goal is to target innovative and creative ways for caregivers to access engaging and practical content online. The role of Instructional Designer/eLearning Developer is a full-time contract position (30-40+ hours a week or weekends, depending on availability). We are open to working with graduate students that may look for a full-time role upon graduation at a fast-growing startup.

Responsibilities:

> Create engaging learning activities and compelling course content that enhances retention and knowledge transfer from online classroom to career.

> Work with subject matter experts to identify target audience’s training needs for each class.

> Apply instructional design theories, practices, and methods for adult learners.

> Define learning objectives for caregivers and plan/design class based on the real-world issues they will encounter in their jobs.

> Create and design concepts for supporting instructional assets/media (e.g., audio, video, simulations, animations, scenarios, games).

> Develop assessment instruments (formative and summative) based on agreed-upon criteria for judging learners’ competence.

>Provide exercises and activities that enhance the learning process through the learning management system.

>Maintain project documentation and course development folders.

Key Objectives:

> Within 1 month of hire:

-Review 15 existing classes and revise (as needed) to ensure they meet length requirements.

-Work with Content and Production Director and other CareAcademy team members to migrate existing classes to new LMS.

> Within 2 months of hire:

-Design and build 6 high-priority classes needed to meet state mandates.

-Clear backlog of filmed/edited video content by designing, developing, and releasing 13 new classes.

> Within 3 months of hire:

-Clear backlog of filmed/edited video content by designing, developing, and releasing 20 new classes. 

Required:

> Extraordinary curiosity and creativity

> Able to work as a team and work independently “manage up” as needed

> Proven working experience in instructional design and learning technologies

> Excellent knowledge of learning theories and instructional design models

> Strong attention to detail

> Experience creating learning for adult learners in healthcare or compliance-driven industries

> Able to plan and storyboard lessons based on our curriculum

> Able to write compelling copy, instructional text, audio scripts/video scripts or willingness to learn

> Solid knowledge of course development software and at least one learning management system

Preferred but Not Required:

> Visual design skills (e.g., Dreamweaver, Photoshop, Illustrator)

> Basic knowledge of HTML

> Bachelors or higher degree in instructional design, educational technology, curriculum, and instruction or similar
